DJ Shadow speaks with UK deejay Zane Lowe, and talks about working on his next album. “My methodology on this current project, I’d say, is almost the same as Endtroducing and the earlier stuff,” said Shadow in the interview. “I’ve tried to get rid of all the extraneous gear and just surround myself with a load records, and just get back to the feeling of “oh wow, this works really well with this” and putting it together.”

He continues later about the as-of-yet untitled album, which he says is halfway done, of which he will be releasing music within the next few months. “I really just want to make music I’m at peace with and also that I think is – if I say it’s a slight return – I only mean in a sense of ‘okay, i had a thread going with some of the records I was doing, let me get back to that thread and see where that thread will me,’” said Shadow. “I do consider it kind of a return to form, but I definitely… I hope there’s nothing on it that sounds like anything I’ve done before, it’s just an aesthetic.”

Oh man, I’ve been waiting for Shadow to do something like this for a long time. As long as it doesn’t sound like his last full album, and sounds more like “This Time”, my $$ is his.
