Gotta weigh in on this incident from the other night regarding Shake from 2DopeBoyz getting dissed by Lupe Fiasco when – rumor has it – he allegedly tried to roll up backstage and conduct an impromptu interview. Apparently things didn’t go as planned, and Shake got harassed by Lupe’s security, who dissed him like a redheaded stepchild. He then responded by Tweeting to the world that 2DopeBoyz website would no longer support Lupe Fiasco ever again. We’ve heard that kind of thing before.

As someone who was at the forefront of this internet hip-hop shit when it began, let me give you some words of advice, young Skywalker: nobody gives a fuck who you are. That’s not a dis to you personally at all, my man, it’s just the way of the world and it’s true for anyone in your position. Do not forget that you are a blogger, and you are not a celebrity. If you were a celebrity, or someone mildly important, people would recognize you in public, even without your 2Dope hat. But nobody knows what you look like, because your MySpace page has a cartoon character on it. I know that in your world what you are doing seems pretty big and important, but right now you are coming off like an angry Stan, not someone who deserves the respect of Lupe Fiasco, or anyone else in this industry for that matter.

The threat of, “we’re not going to support leak your music ever again” holds little weight to an artist like Lupe, who’s been very vocal about his unfinished tracks leaking on the internet. In fact, one could even surmise that you got dissed because you are a part of the problem. That in itself is a bit of a stretch, but something to consider. And here’s the other thing – if you aren’t going to cover Lupe, then we will, and so will every other rap website.

DJ Pizzo is not even trying to pick a fight here, just looking out for a fellow Vegas cat, whom honestly I’d never heard of until a few months ago and was confusing for Shaggy Too Dope from Insane Clown Posse. I held my tongue when you tried to go up against Elliot Wilson a couple of weeks back, which again, shows similar unprofessionalism and a spoiled, privileged attitude that you deserve some kind of accolades or props for whatever your big accomplishment is.

Remember this: you are not on equal level to the artists that you blog about, even if you try to pretend so by talking about yourself every time you blog about them. This especially rings true for someone that is as respected and loved as Lupe Fiasco, who has toured around the world many times over, makes loads more money than you, and is on television every day. You are at home reading the internet right now.

And here is another news flash. This is not the last time you will be dissed by a famous rapper, so get used to it. Do yourself a favor and publicly apologize to Lupe for going out like a sucker. Going up against an artist that everyone loves and respects is also not a way to win the hearts of the public. Ask Solar.

who cares if he’s a fan of gang starr?

  2. DJ Pizzo says:

Alright guys, calm down. 2DopeBoyz is a cool site, let’s not discredit that on the account of taking a side with HHS. You can take a side with whomever you like, it doesn’t make a difference to us, this is internet shit.

The point of the article, again, was to put a young blogger in his place for acting like a 12 year old because his favorite rapper got mad at him. That’s it.

Sorry Shake, but you don’t get to act like judge, jury, and executioner because Lupe dissed you. You aren’t that important. If he accidentally dissed MTV, I promise you Lupe would be apologizing. Getting blackballed by 2FanBoyz is hardly on his radar.

    Welcome to the real world.

  3. KH says:

    I’m wondering why

    - this is even newsworthy (a “fan” is “dissed” by a rapper and “Twits” about it)

    - this is one of the top stories (*sticky*)

    - this has personally offended Pizzo so (see something of yourself in the lad?)

“A wise man said never argue with fools – people from a difference can’t tell who is who”

  4. KH says:

    * from a distance

  5. D-bo says:

Y’all act like bitches. Especially those who like Lupe Fiasco.

  6. theskeep says:

Lupe’s doing that shitty wannabe indie sound now, anyway. Dude’s new album’s gonna suck.

  7. DV says:

@DJ Pizzo: If Shake is just a “Fan” than why is this a newsworthy article to waste your time on? I’m sure many fans tweet shit about artists every day… where is their post?

You as well as everyone else on the Internet know that Shake is a leading force in the hip hop blogging game. Blogs are as important to hip hop as ever before. His site receives thousands of comments and hundreds of thousands of hits WEEKLY. Shake’s influence on what people listen to, buy, and what hundreds of other blogs cover is indescribable. If 2DB.com stops covering Lupe than hundreds of other blogs who just copy and paste from them will follow suit.

The underlying problem, besides you being a complete moron, is that Lupe has absolutely no idea how to work with the blogs. He has had this same beef with FakeShoreDrive over the years. He must learn how to work with the leaks, instead of against them… like every other single artist is doing, and must do to stay relevant. Is Shake hacking into Lupe’s computer and stealing his music… no. If Lupe should have a problem with anyone it should be with someone in his own camp who is leaking his music… don’t shoot the messenger.

Anyway, your un-researched article holds no weight, you just sound like a jealous disgruntled old man. I would tell you to give up your day job, but unlike shake, this is not your job, you don’t make shit from this… so keep up your hobby, even if you suck at it. A waste of 15 years in my opinion… you are the least professional asshole blogger out there. Research your story next time, instead of being a hypocrite and “reporting” on something you have no idea about. Old ass wanna be bloggers so disconnected with the current actual scene…

I can if he is a fan of gang starr or not. The way he responds when guru’s death is mentioned shows what kind of respect he has for hip hop.

And this fuss about shake and shit, whatever. People think an artist can dis a nobody but maybe not MTV. their status is irrelevant. famous people and scrubs act good and bad alike.

And on Pizzo wasting time entertaining this shit, it’s like a dude bragging to an ex-girlfriend about how great his life is. shit, if your life was so great, you wouldn’t be taking the time do that.

Is it THAT important to point out that someone is supposedly unimportant?

  9. jorilla says:

I care* if he is a fan of gang starr or not.

  10. Christopher says:

Shake = Solar Both of them seem like they catch feeling over some gay shit.

  11. Andy says:

I agree with DV, I don’t see the point behind this whole “put dude in his place” thing. If you were disrespected by Shake and he did something to tarnish your name, then it would be a different story. But as many have said before, YOU were not a part of the situation that went down, and all you have is rumors to base your “putting someone in their place” rant. This does not need to be stickied, I love Hiphopsite.com and have supported it for years, and will continue to do so cause this site is awesome!! But this article was weak and I can only hope it will not happen again. At least with the Solar Guru conspiracy you guys had FACTS to present and those artices made for a good read.

  12. Presto says:

As long as nobody shits on Meatwad, I’m cool.

  13. Presto says:

This beef is hotter then the Just Wright Mixtape series!

  14. nwr says:

I think Pizzo’s original point was to give an understanding that in the bigger sense we are not celebrities and should not have a sense of entitlement. Actors, athletes and musicians are who they are and don’t owe us (fans, bloggers, whatever) anything and we should learn that. We follow THEM, we cover THEM, we are fans of THEM, they dont’ have to be friendly abd they don’t have to care. If and when they do act like assholes, yes we can get offended, but we really should just get over it because we aren’t even on their radars. It’s sad, but is also true and is just how life actually is.

Whatever the situation actually was, maybe Lupe felt like, I don’t know this dude, he’s not part of my circle and I really don’t have to give him the time of day. Again, it sucks, but it’s the difference between being famous and well, not.

  15. jorilla says:

@nwr: nobody should put up with disrespect no matter where is comes from or who is comes from. do you let a bitch treat you with disrespect just because she is hot? why should it be any different just cause someone is famous?

whether the world cares or not is a different story. like you or anyone else never bitched about being dissed. it just happens that shake let it be known on a larger platform than other people have access to.

  16. lasean says:

and not only does he gets love and respect from his peers in the hip hop genre he gets love and respect from artist in other genres too

and almost all of his shows be sold out or almost sold most of the time so how is he irrelevant

  17. Shyguy says:

Smh@myself for reading all this bullshit.

  18. LuisP says:
