For those of us not keeping up with the actual news lately, there’s a big debate about the construction of a mosque (which is essentially a religious center for Muslims) near Ground Zero, where the World Trade Center fell on 9-11. The Tea Party and other protesters believe it should not go there because it’s insulting to the victims of 9-11, while Fox News is helping perpetuate the myth that we are going to have a scary terrorist breeding ground in the heart of New York City (which if that were the case, we’d know right where to find them. AND KILL THEM.) The problem with all of this is that the protesters are forgetting that this country has a thing called “freedom of religion”, which they seem to only respect when it’s in favor of their own faith. Like “In God We Trust” printed on U.S. currency, for example.

Russell Simmons took note of this and placed a series of religious symbols in his office windows, which overlook Ground Zero, suggesting that we should be respectful of one another, despite our differing theologies. Can’t we all just get along?

Christians don’t care about freedom of religion. They all think we’re gonna burn in hell anyways. I mean, shiet. We stopped using the constitution and bill of rights like 100 years ago.

oh by the way, 911 was an inside job, thank you

It’s not a mosque, it’s a community center (think YMCA). It will contain a prayer room, but no mosque. I only write this because calling it a mosque plays into the right-wing strategy of dictating the terms of the debate. It’s also not at Ground Zero, it’s near Ground Zero. In a place as densely populated as New York, that’s a big difference.

Christians #1: Hey, dude. Another preacher just f*cked another boy in the ass! what the hell?

Christian #2: Who gives a shit, these god damn devil worshipping muslims are about to build a demonic building next to ground zero!

Christians #1: well, what about the fact that us Christians didn’t find any nukes in Iraq and we slaughtered whole buncha kids for no reason? Shouldn’t we apologize?

Christian #2: ahahahaha, no. we did them a favor. Besides, if we were wrong? All we have to do is say sorry to Jesus right before we die. no need to apologize to the children who got their legs blown off. GOD IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS.

I guess freedom of religion trumps freedom of speech. My post was not approved because it didn’t fit into what the story wanted me to say. Must be convenient to pick and choose what you find important in the constitution. Hiphopsite.com is a joke! Never did I think I would see new pertaining to Rick Ross, Soldier Boy, and Gucci whatever on this site. Talk about selling out.
