Great video. Em channels his Michael J. Fox circa Back To The Future acting style at the 2:32 mark. Detox bitches.
Not a Dre beat. Not his lyrics. No complaints
All I’ve heard is that he’s such a perfectionist that he’s been constantly re-recording Detox for like 10 years, and now in 2011 he finally comes out with two mediocre tracks based on years-old industry trends (auto-tune, emo sung hook). I don’t get it
Although perhaps the problem is that I’m not listening to them on my Beats by Dre headphones or laptop, which has been optimized by Dr Dre for studio-quality sound
This song is good, but let’s face it – it should have been on Recovery. This isn’t a Dr. Dre song, he didn’t even fucking produce it.
The Chronic and 2001 both redefined West Coast “gangsta rap”, is Detox just going to be a token Dre record just because it’s been rumored for the last 8 years? Does Dre really have nothing relevant to say/produce anymore that he just needs everyone else to hold his album up for him?
After the lackluster “Kush” and now this Recovery bonus track, I don’t have much hope held out for Detox. It would have had more of an impact as an urban legend than actually being released at this point.
Meh.
This is track is tight. I agree, it does sound like a ‘Recovery’ left over, but it wouldn’t have fit the ‘Recovery’ sound.
I actually think this is a great first single, (if you can call it that) for Detox. It’s going against the grain; it doesn’t sound like anything else on the radio, and while it probably won’t be #1, it definitely has top 10 potential.
Also, did anyone else notice all the product placement…I am not hatin’ about that…just sayin’.
