Here’s another one that should have been up last week, but found us extra-busy on the 1 & 2′s instead. First single from Ap’s Honkey Kong LP. Hide ya wife, hide ya kids.

Apathy – “East Coast Rapist”
Ap has definitely had a different sound since he started handling most of his own production duties (no disrespect to Apathy, but Chum’s beats were half the reason Eastern Philosophy was an under the radar classic), but he can still RIP it, and goddammit, the sample just works. Dope track. Even though I think The Breakfast Club is one of the most overrated movies around. Haters gon hate.
Another Demigod classic! Ap holds it down. I can’t wait for this album it should be as good or better than Celph’s and Buck’s album.
I am one of Apathy’s biggest fan but I just do not like this beat. He’s been doin’ these obvious Puff Daddy style sampled beats. Like the remix he did for Cypress Hill and that Whole Lotta Money track. The lyrics are on point but the beat kills this for me. Ap has made some seriously awesome beats, “Killing Everybody in Sight” by… Damn can’t remember that female emcee’s name right now but for real like Eminem dude needs to stick to mainly writing lyrics and let cats like Chum handle the beats.
I like the beat on this, Ap comes off ok. I gotta say though I’m not the biggest on Apathy- his flow is jsut so repetitive to me. His songs are original and whatnot, but also him rhyme structure is a little weak to me, rhyming words that don’t rhyme- sorta like D-Sisive also. Regardless I’m just gripin, its a good track
Sorry but the beat to this is BANGIN….Breakfast Club movie is an 80′s cult classic, and anyone who is 30 to 40 years old will have a soft spot for it. The truth is, who would’ve thought to even use this sample in a Hip Hop track, let alone Apathy bein the artist to abuse it’s subtle yet fluid bounce…Besides “The Recipe” and “Make A Lotta Money” – definitely one of the favorite’s on here….
