BTW, when the smoke of all this hype clears, Frank Ocean is going to be the dude from this crew that ends up being the biggest star.
His Nostalgia, ULTRA album (released as a free mixtape) is a breath of fresh air to the continually boring and stagnant R&B genre.
Call it “hating” if you want, but I don’t like this guy/Odd Future’s style.
Yonkers is a dope track with a cool video, and track 2 off Bastard is nice bu beyond that def don’t see why so much hype on this dude. I’ve heard comparisons to Wu-Tang and Earl Sweatshirt to Nas? That shit is weaksauce. Beats are 90% weak/lame and lyrical content has been done before and new jacks are acting like its groundbreaking. Gravediggaz? Kool Keith? Nasty MC’s with bangin beats. Not trying to hate but I’m much more on the Blu, Action Bronson, Curren$y as far as new cats.
Odd Future is the shit, especially Tyler. Yeah shocking lyrics about rape and blasphemy etc. aren’t a new thing, but their whole package is presented in a fresh way. They don’t sound like anybody else, yeah some of their subject matter might be similar to Kool Keith, Gravediggaz, Brotha Lynch Hung,or Eminem, but they don’t sound like any of those artists musically. And find me a another 16 year old that can rap like Earl Sweatshirt, dude is amazing.
