im just sayin i havent liked any of the stuff ive heard from em.. not hatin.. statin my feelin on what ive heard
@Parisiano: I feel what your saying but to be honest im not a huge fan of their’s but i do respect that they created their buzz off of a TUMBLR page!!! Thats pretty impressive to say the least so i respect them in that regard but i do feel like they are the NEW GENERATION of hip hop…we’re now the “OLD SKOOL” if u like it or not…so like most things that envolve evolution, you can either change with the current or be left at the waste side…..
@ Artie Hendrix they maybe the “New School” and I do respect anyone working hard to make their dreams come true and that is awesome. I just do not care for his or Odd Future’s style that all, it’s not for me. And I see your point of the evolution of an artform although in this case Hip Hop seems to be not advancing only getting watered down and have little or no substance or much art/skill involved. And we will not be left at the waste side as there are plenty of artist making quality Hip Hop music you just can’t expect MTV/BET/Radio/Mass Media to provide it for us. But the art is quite alive and well and if I chose not to listen to people that make this so-called New School then I will still have plenty of old and youg artist to listen to. Peep Blu, Fashawn, J. Cole, and I’ll say it again, Mac Miller and Action Bronson/Outdoorsmen for a taste of my “New School”… Again nothing but respect…
I’ve only heard Yonker & sandwitches, & going off those 2 songs, I’m impressed by them, & it’s nice to see LA artists who don’t have the typical LA sound & subject matter get this much attention. I like the beats & production, however I don’t care for their subject matter much, shock rap gets old quick, & that satanic gimmick is corny. If u can get past the raunchy stuff, there’s some introspection in their music, which is good IMO. Tyler’s voice & delivery are nice, & minus the lyrical content, they are closer true hip hop than most of what’s hot now.
How is shock rap all of a sudden considered ground breaking? These are cats that claim Eminem’s Relapse as their holy grail. I know they are young and everything, but if that’s the album that you are basing your entire style around, you probably aren’t going to last long in this game.
And this is coming from someone who actually really liked Relapse.
I might check for this album because I think Tyler really can flow, but I don’t think he’ll ever live up to the hype.
