Odd Future frontman, Tyler The Creator, tweeted the following cryptic message yesterday, “Odd Future…….Records? Maybe. Funny thing is, we won’t sign people like a record label. Same people, same shit, all in house.”

Manager Christian Clancy had this to say

“It’s based on getting the distribution deal we’ve always envisioned that allows the group to “sign  themselves” to their own company and keep their masters. They will have 100% creative control of all aspects of their music, art, and release schedule with no 3rd party participation in outside business. Freedom and ownership was the whole point. Red and Sony know that its in everyone’s best interest to maintain the group’s authenticity and control. They built it, they deserve it. There’s no cheesy hooks or fluorescent liquor product placements in the works..  It’s about to be fun.. and different..”

Yea agreed this shows desperation on the labels part… Shock records are a flash in the pan and these guys will be yesterdays news soon… But if sites like HHS and all the others keep giving them promotion by talking about why are they getting all this attention we are all feeding into the hype and they could be successful… Internet hype has really changed the playing field…

  • Well this is great news for all emerging artist because it goes to show that the industry is changing and starting to take notice to all of these new “movements” that are starting up but also now its most definately on who co-signs you as well…and i think Mos Def screaming like a little school girl on Jimmy Fallon was as much co-sign as you can possibly get hahaha
