Sad news strikes today as 34 year old co-founder and creative director of LRG (Lifted Research Group) Clothing, Jonas Bevacqua, was found dead in his Leguna Beach home, in what authorities call a “non-suspicious death,” according to the Orange County Register. Rumors have suggested that he died of a heart attack, after news was broken via Twitter by L-R-G celebrity endorser and famed producer, 9th Wonder. Condolences from the HHS crew. R.I.P. Jonas Bevacqua.

  1. TomL says:

How exactly is this hip hop news?

  2. Billy Hoyle says:

Are you serious? LRG is a big part of the hip-hop community. Ever see their ads? Majority feature hip hop artists and the gear was super dope.

  3. TomL says:

If I seen their ads, I haven’t paid much attention to them. Unlike when I was in high school, the clothing doesn’t do much for me anymore.. unless its really tight. Even though, how is making clothes a big part of the hip hop community, especially these days… you see what the kids are wearing… lol.. tight jeans, glitter on their shoes

  4. Dayz says:

R.I.P. Jonas… LRG’s clothing is a staple in the Hip Hop community seen on anyone and everyone reppin’ this culture.

  5. Dayz says:

@TomL, yes can the tight jeans on dudes fad please go away! I don’t mean we need to bring back the skater pants two feet wide at the ankle jawns but let’s wear some normal fitting dungarees and slacks!

  6. TopherCDUBS says:

@TomL You must not really know your hip hop… They endorsed and sponsored soooo many good hip hop acts and have been a major backer of concerts and events. LRG is basically hip hop.

  7. TomL says:

    @TopherCDUBS That’s a hilarious comment… you get a brownie point

  8. TomL says:

LRG was started in 1999, the year that hip hop died… lol, so if they’re basically hip hop… lol.. still can’t stop laughing…

Hope you respond and teach me some more… can’t wait

  9. TopherCDUBS says:

Ha, shows how much you know again… Hip hop is dead? If hip hop is dead why you on here nerd?

  10. TomL says:

hmm… and you can tell me that it isn’t. Other than in the underground (which is what I mostly look for on here), the commercial side is dead. You’re either in denial or grew up listening to cRAP.

  11. Pooch says:

TomL, please take the high road and just stop. Continue the discussion of what you think is hip hop on another story, not in someone’s Rest In Peace acknowledgment. Regardless of what he meant to you, he meant enough to other people in the culture to get the mention here. R.I.P.

  12. Rizzo says:

Now that LRG is dead, tight jeans are basically hiphop

  13. A/DC/B says:

R.I.P. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, but LRG has attached its name to some good music. I effed with some of their t-shirts in the past too.

  14. khordkutta says:

2 prs jeans and a beanie. RIP… Ur Buggin TomL thats like sayin FUBU or KANI wasnt HIPHOP>

  15. Skins says:

RIP to him, have read some interviews with him and he seemed like a good dude who had a vision and went with it.

Not intending to fuel the debate above anymore than it already has been, but just for the record, TomL, get your hands on The Kid Daytona’s Interludes mixtape if you haven’t. It’s really, really dope and was backed by LRG.

  16. TomL says:

@Skins I will check out the Kid Daytona mixtape, and its not that I don’t respect the fact that he backed some hip hop artists… but lets not blow it out of proportion.

Best buy & Walmart do that all of the time and it doesn’t make them hip hop. I’m feeling a lot of the bape or billionaire boys club wear myself, they had the dopest selection in their official Tokyo store (even better than NYC) but it doesn’t make them hip hop either.

For the record I hated FUBU.

Either way… R.I.P. to the guy, lets see if the company continues. Pay your respects and move on.

  17. chin_wa! says:

tomL your complete a reject, your on a sight which features indie hip-hop with lrg being a big staple of our culture. By reading your above statements u must be on more a commercial aspect of the hip hop genre….trying going to the source or xxl they should be help you

  18. Beatsbumpin says:

R.I.P. Underground Inventive, Overground Ground Effective!! FYI L-R-G is just as much part of the Underground Hip Hop culture as Adidas was and has been since it started. Learn about it.
    TomL

  19. TomL says:

You guys remind me of myself a decade ago… ready to die for that underground… lol, thanks, needed that today
