While there was innanet speculation suggesting the release of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne LP on July 4th, instead, we get some news, a street date, and a spot to pre-order from. The album to be released on August 2nd, with pre-orders taking place now via Island Def Jam’s webshop. The album is offered in both standard and deluxe editions, in both digital and CD formats, however details have not been released for either. While common knowledge suggests that August 2nd will be the street date for everywhere else in the world as well, preorders have not gone up on Amazon or Itunes, nor does Universal list it in their retail database. This either means one of two things, a) the two are pulling a “Radiohead” and selling it exclusively online, or b) there’s no way in hell that album will be ready in less than a month. More news as it comes….

Why does hip hop have to be so disposable? I guess I’m just sentimental but I still feel like Hov still has something to say. (Independant of his tax bracket) Let the great veteran live like rock music does with Bono and Mick Jagger.
Embrace the idea that the artform can hold truth thru a wide aray of spectrums so that it may radiate & shine. Stay thirsty my friends and Support hip hop!

I still feel Jay-Z’s lyrics and Kanye’s production and that’s the way this album should be

The duo’s highly-anticipated album sold 436,078 in its first week. They sold 321,000 through digital sales. They managed to sell 290,000 through iTunes, setting a new record previously held by Coldplay. Jigga transends again.
