While there was innanet speculation suggesting the release of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne LP on July 4th, instead, we get some news, a street date, and a spot to pre-order from. The album to be released on August 2nd, with pre-orders taking place now via Island Def Jam’s webshop. The album is offered in both standard and deluxe editions, in both digital and CD formats, however details have not been released for either. While common knowledge suggests that August 2nd will be the street date for everywhere else in the world as well, preorders have not gone up on Amazon or Itunes, nor does Universal list it in their retail database. This either means one of two things, a) the two are pulling a “Radiohead” and selling it exclusively online, or b) there’s no way in hell that album will be ready in less than a month. More news as it comes….

I’m actually very, very curious in this, just to see what comes out of it. My money is on this decade’s version of “Best of Both Worlds” rather than another “Bad vs. Evil”, because there has to be a reason this isn’t getting a major push, but you never know – it could be an understated masterpiece.

You know, because both of these guys do “understated” so well…

It would have been nice if Kanye stuck to production on the album, but that won’t happen. So I know I will at least dislike half of the vocals on it.

@Ozi, If you don’t play nice we don’t need your input… Real discussion of the art we appreciate, if you don’t want to join the discussion then please leave your two-cents on some other Hip Hop website.
