Admittedly, this track was better once Warren G got a hold of it, but this Prince Paul version shows us what might have been.
Nicolas Orizaga says: on the De La Soul skit, Warren G was the name that got edited out? “I don’t care you can put this on the album”…
Dayz says: Yeah Warren G’s version is a classic, this is good but not as good… What I want to know is where is a new Slick Rick LP??? Been waiting longer than Detox!!! I spoke to Rick about his new LP like 7 years ago and he even spit a new verse and said it’s coming soon but again this was 7 years ago! I guess he pretty much retired from writing and just does the occasional show. His guest appearances are more far and few between than Andre 3000 at this point. Rick is one of the best emcees ever to do it and a new LP would be such a gift to the music world and fans.
A/DC/B says: The last I heard, back after he beat his deportation case, Rick said that there doesn’t seem to be a place for adult oriented hip-hop in the market. I don’t remember where he said it though.
I'm At Work And Bored says: oh hell no. Warren G version was the sickest shit! I still bump that track.
Dayz says: @ A/DC/B yeah he spoke to me about that a bit but still said he was going to release a new LP… Guess for the time being he decided not to??? Shame cause a new LP from Slick Rick might not go platinum, or sell aluminum, but it would be huge for the long time fans old and young. I imagine he still makes decent bank touring doing his classics so it wouldn’t have to be for the money just the love… I know I never made it as a super star emcee but it doesn’t stop me from writing new material, I write and work on music as much as I still can.
