DJ Pizzo – “Blog So Hard” Mixtape

Here it is a little sooner than expected, Blog So Hard, my new mixtape built around the HHS 2011 Year-In-Review: The 25 Greatest Mixtape Bangers list. All of the tracks included were not included on any album in 2011, making them the digital equivalent to the indie 12″‘s of our earlier vinyl era. Includes blog-only bangers from Nas, MF Doom, Ghostface Killah, Wu-Block, Eminem, Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf, El-P, DJ Premier, Slick Rick, Bumpy Knuckles, Apathy,  Demigodz, Blu, Pete Rock, Madlib, Freddie Gibbs, Jay Electronica, Mobb Deep, Jon Connor, J. Cole, Rick Ross, T.I., Busta Rhymes, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, David Banner, Lupe Fiasco, Alchemist, Meek Mill, Black Star, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Gucci Mane.

I don’t know where else to post this…but what happened to UCLA? It was up, I streamed it, tried to buy, and got an error. Now the post is gone and I can’t find it on Bandcamp. Did a certain university pull some legal nonsense or something?

  3. Dayz says:

@Pizzo nice mix my man! Awesome to see you put Demigodz Is Back as track number one! That song is so bonkers and makes me get up and start wildin’ out every time I play it. Even wifey gets up and starts wreckin’ shop when it’s on, LOL! I see you snuck in a lil Drake and Ross but I’ll let it slide, Ha! Thanks for putting this together!

@PaulT yeah UCLA is definitely gone from Bandcamp. Maybe the name? Maybe the completely naked bird on a tree artwork? Anyways I haven’t listened to the whole thing but Blu failed again in my eyes cause the songs are mixed or mastered… After releasing Below the Heavens and Johnson & Johnson I just can’t understand what he is going for with this sh!tty sound??? I am a huge stickler for audio quality and no matter how dope the beat and lyrics are if the recording is off I cannot and refuse to listen…

  4. Dayz says:

Meant to say the songs AREN’T mixed or mastered… Phew Blu WHY???

  5. dj pizzo says:

I’m guessing Stones Throw stepped in and shut it down. They have a pension for quality control and I doubt they would let something with madlib’s name on it go out unmixed and unmastered.

  6. battle hound says:

Cheers Pizzo, fantastic mixtape, best complete mixtape i heard in years

  7. AP says:

Regarding the UCLA, i hear Madlib wasnt even involved with the project and Blu had just put that up there for no apparent reason, therefore, they took it down.

  8. AP says:

    BTW dope mixtape!

  9. Model Citizen says:

UCLA is garbage, you can’t even understand half the lyrics because the quality is so bad. Like virtually everyone, I love “Below the Heavens,” but Blu is getting on my last nerve with all of his pretentious bullshit. He’s a dope lyricist when he wants to be but I don’t know who the fuck he thinks he is. Like we should be so greatful to be blessed with new material from him that we’ll gobble it up regardless of the sound quality. Fuck that. I know people that have dealt with booking shit for him and they say he’s an asshole too. It was never posted on here, but that video of the dude from SF calling him out from the crowd is priceless!

  12. battle hound says:

Still listening to last years mixtape, equally dope

  13. Skins says:

Took me a few to get to it, but loving this. Even the tracks I didn’t think I cared for work in the mix. Making the train rides a little nicer. Salute, Pizzo!

  14. Nin10Joe says:

Dope! But when are we gonna get the return of the Backpack Thugs Mix series?!?! I always had to cop something from you guys to make sure I got my free copy!

  15. KC says:

Nice mix, good sir. Only complaint is that it isn’t tracked, so I have to hear “Swag”, which makes me want to punch babies.
