While I understand what Quik is saying to a degree that Dre “has nothing to prove” or that it might not be received well by “finicky Hip Hop” fans but to me it’s all still one big cop out! If these songs were so advanced and dope then why not as an “artist” put your material out there? Does he need the money or more fame? No but as an artist I would think if you love what you do and are confident in your creations you would want to share them with the world. Lets be honest the couple songs he released like I Need a Doctor and Die-Hard were average at best if not whack! So I say it’s really a matter of he lost his touch and can’t produce decent music anymore (side note how much did he really produce and not just stick his name on a Scott Storch, Focus or countless others production?). Name one song he’s produced in like the past decade? I think his last hot song was In The Club or Addictive. Like Ice Cube said he’s selling overpriced headphones now so he’s moved on from making music. I just wish he could just officially put the last nail in the coffin on Detox and end this charade already.

Who cares if this comes out at this point? You can’t hype a record for like 10 years and match the astronomical expectations. I’ll be surprised if this record ever comes out and I’ll be shocked if it comes out and its actually good.

  • Dayz says:

The hype is just too much at this point and I’d bet my bottom dollar it will never come out. No matter how choice it is it would fail because the expectation level is unrealistic at this point. It’s all Dre’s fault though, if he had put this point when he had already supposedly recorded 100s of song back in like 2004 it would have been a smash success… At least that’s what I feel… Dre please officially call it off so the internet bloggers can quit yammering about it! LOL!

Yeah, the “Detox” saga should be adapted into a children’s book. It could be the hip hop version of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”

Fuc Detox but big up the Dr. for the ish he did release. Hate it or love it, dudes will check for him if he never creates new music. The ish in Dre’s vault is no doubt nicer than half the ish cats have set to release this year.
