DJ Premier has been promoting this guy but I am not sold. He has very generic gangsta drug dealer lyrics and nothing about this style stands out. The only thing that actually stands out is how ridiculous his Mixtape cover is! Scarface is so played out! Pete Rock came through with a very choice beat and Styles P sounded great… Wish it was just a Styles P song and I’d be listening again.

@Dayz, while DJ Premier is an undeniable legend, his co-signs don’t always mean an artist is especially talented. I mean, Group Home? Don’t get me wrong “Livin’ Proof” is a sick record, but those dudes were never anything special on the mic. Big Shug? Mediocre at best. Blaq Poet? He’s charismatic and everything but not a great lyricist. Who on Year Round Records really stands out? I’m not trying to talk shit on the man, Premier is arguably the best producer of all time (definitely in my top 3), but a lot of the dudes he’s backed are nothing special.

@Model Citizen I totally agree with everything your saying. I should have clarified that I never take a Preemo co-sign as word as bond until I hear the artist myself. Yeah sometimes as smart and cool as the man sounds he really seems to endorse some real corny gangstas from the hood and brag how real they are when in reality they are mediocore artists at best. Like you said no diss cause he’s my favorite Hip Hop producer but he doesn’t have the best ear for MC talent.
