Brother Ali might stir up Fox News with his new album cover for Mourning In America and Dreaming In Color. The album hits August 21, and is entirely produced by Jake One.
@ model. I’m not here to discuss every album concept hip hop has ever seen. I see something offensive and speak up, that IS hip hop, that is what a man does, I’m sorry that you cannot recognize that. You don’t like my love it or leave it attitude, too bad. I don’t really see how you could hate something but not leave it. Seems weak to me. Regardless, the flag does not solely represent Bush era policies, Obama’s decisions, or corporate greed. It is the symbol of the people. Those who fight to uplift and rise up, those who protect, those who serve in hospitals, as teachers, community leaders and so forth. When you disrtespect the flag we are all insulted. Sorry, its a beautiful Saturday here in America’s North East and I don’t have time to explain respect and pride to a new jack who obviously has not experienced or appreciated the joy of our nation or the lack of freedom in others.

@mchc, if you don’t like the picture that’s fine, I really don’t care. Just because it offends you doesn’t mean Ali isn’t hip hop though, none of your arguments for that point made any sense. Hip Hop is supposed to offend the closed minded. Just because you don’t like Ali doesn’t mean that his music sounds anything like Black Eyed Peas either. Seriously, that is probably the strangest comparison I’ve ever heard. That’s like saying Action Bronson sounds like Flo Rida or something, it just doesn’t make sense. Next time you want to prove your point think about sticking to it rather than hurling middle school insults, it doesn’t do you any favors. Ok, I’m sick of this discussion.
You do care bc you’re still responding.
What comments have you read.? When did I say he was not hip hop? I said he did not embody it bc I think to EMBODY a subculture you should be well versed in more than one element of it
I said the sing spongy bubble gum track reminded me of a peas track, and it does
What amazes me is that you take more offense when a dj you like has his track criticized thn you do when the country you live in insulted. Let’s be honest jake one has no clue who the fuck you are and probably never will. I don’t mean to be rude but that’s honest talk. Still you come to his defense at the drop of a dime. Meanwhile the symbol of your nation, what represents you, your family, our way of life (open discussion, artistic expression, equality, and all else) is insulted and you care not one bit. I see what the problem is. You just don’t get it. You don’t understand. You have not experiencesd real life enough to know why value nd respect is ll about. Do me a favor, go down to ground zero on 9-11, stop at the MLK memorial on the 3rd Monday in January, visit the Vietnam memorial, and the rebuilding of New Orleans…then go see the poverty of Haiti, war torn Northern Ireland, and gang ruled Mexico. After you do that come back and tell me how you feel about an “artistic” album cover of a man stepping on our flag. In short grow up, learn to be a man, and then we can talk
Until then keep sucking emcees cocks bc you’re parents won’t lift your curfew
Sorry to jump in so late but @Dayz, Whatchu know bout Chicken Little and Hanger Head? That’s too dope that you got to rock w/ Oatie & Co. back in the day. “Tricks of the Shade” is the most under rated hip hop LP ever. I’m sure it’s because of “Uncle Scam” too. I saw them perform 2 nights in a row back in like 93 here in Colorado(Boulder) and the first nights show was “Tricks of the Shade” in it’s exact entirety. The second night was the same, except for a full on rock band was backing them. Definately one of the illest live shows I have ever seen. Shit I still got the tour Tee and I still rock “Tricks” til this day. Classic material never goes out of style. I sure wish we woulda got another LP w/ Oatie, MADD and Swayzac tho.
