Finally some new music from the Clipse’s reformed half. From the upcoming solo release, Hear Ye Him.
Dayz says: This is a really good song, I dig this.
Model Citizen says: I don’t know about this. It’s not terrible (better than anything Pusha T has done lately) but this is such a far cry from the Clipse music I love so much. Between Pusha’s pop aspirations and Malice’s new found Christianity, I’m going to assume that Clipse, as I want to hear them, are over. They may put out another album like they say they’re going to but I doubt it will be very good. I hate to box artists in, but I’m just not all that interested in hearing Pusha or Malice rap about anything other than selling drugs. They did that amazingly well, but when they stray from that subject matter they fall kinda fall flat for me.
Dayz says: I think listening to all of Pusha T’s wack raps lately got me not thinking straight and gave this too much credit… Agreed with everything @Model Citizen said… The only two to write every verse about coke and always made it sound so dope. Best drug rap rappers ever imo.
Model Citizen says: @Dayz, agreed. Clipse is (or maybe I should say was) crack rap at it’s finest. I would never have thought it was possible for one group to make so many dope songs about the same thing, but they did it.
isaac says: I agree with Model Citizen, but I also am kind of feeling this song as well. Its awesome to hear Mal again, one of my favorite MCs of all time no doubt. As shitty as Push has been in his pursuit of pop stardom I still would DEFINITELY cop a new CD from the Clipse, but I dont know if we will ever see another one. Hopefully.
