Nas tells us why his 1994 classic Illmatic is nine tracks of “hip hop excellence” on Review the Old, Plug the New. He refers to Life Is Good as “excellence”, however says he realizes how much better he could have made it. Review coming tonight….
Excellence? Couldve made it better? I always view Nas as a God for Illmatic. Nothing he does can tarnish that. But he need to GTFOH. Average album at best to someone who has an experienced ear. The way he went the Def Jam route with a million features (Rick f&$kin Ross?) just saddens me, let alone the poor beat selections that have been going on for about a decade now and the way he routinely trips over rhythms and tries to fit 2 extra syllables into bars where they can’t fit. Take those 4 and 5 star ratings to ITunes for music novices to read.
