Legendary femcee, Boogie Down Productions crew members, and ex-wife to KRS-One, Ms. Melodie, has died. No cause of death has been revealed. Ms. Melodie, aka Ramona Parker, was best known for her verse on “Self Destruction”, as well as her 1989 Jive LP, Diva.
R.I.P. Ms. Melodie and condolences to her friends and family.
R.I.P. This is sad news indeed.
No doubt,Rip to 1 of the 1st ladies of the artform.
RIP MM. Boogie Down and Juice Crew started my journey as a head. Even as a toddler, I knew I couldn’t get with earlier “commercial” hip-hop acts of Def Jam, the party raps from Dougie or Kurtis, or the disco influence that still permeated acts like Zulu, Furious, Whodini, what have you. The streets was officially represented in sound and style when these crews came through. “The opposition is weak, and rap is strong”. We love you, ma. Shout out to The Teacher.
Hiphop fans have a short memory, but tracks like ‘live on stage’ were dope. Respect always, you won’t be forgotten.
