With yesterday’s release of the album art for Wiz Khalifa’s O.N.I.F.C., Wiz got an earful from various blog comment sections – including this one – about the art direction.
His stylist, Fatima B, was first to respond, with the following statement. “I can understand both sides of people getting it or not getting it. It’s like Kelis [paving the way with her style] six years ago and you see all these artists now [mimicking it]. If you see how Wiz dresses now, it already gives you this whole hippie feel. This whole ’70s vibe. This sleazy, rockstar-type image. This is what we wanted it to be and we wanted people to see the transition from how Wiz used to dress, up until now. This is where we’re at with the album, the music. It all goes together.”
Wiz took to Twitter to offer his own response to people’s reaction to the album cover as well. “I’m helpin everyone get in touch with their inner sleaze. If you don’t wanna let it out, I’ll express it for you. I’ll be brave enough. ONIFC is not for the scary. It’s about taking risks, so the people that believe what we believe in can feel free. The cover art should give you confidence and let you know that you can fully be yourself in front of people, no matter what they say or think. You don’t have to hide that shit. Let it out. That’s what the artwork really represents. And if you’re still scared, I’ll do it for you. Let’s all grow together!”
It looks like he is wearing Evel Kinevil’s pants.
His tracks are far worse than this ‘outfit’ he is wearing.
And that is saying something.
I think it’s safe to say we can judge this albums by it’s cover.
Huh…I’m a bit surprised. I didn’t think somebody…and more than one sombody, would come to the defense of this. I know we have all covered this in the last post, but when looking at this pic today (I never thought I would see it a second time, I thought somebody would have flagged this as a bad idea)it reminds me of that episode of the boondocks where a rapper makes it cool to wear womens clothes. Bro’s before hoe’s I think…hehehehe…Gangstalicious is Wiz Khalifa in real life. LOL
Seriously though….know your audience. Cause I don’t know anybody who dresses like this.
I hear what they are saying but I don’t get any of that from his horrible music, it’s crap rap at its finest. Sorry dude you ain’t no deep artist channelling your inner Hendrix, you’re just a smoked out idiot with little talent whose head is full of yes men telling him he’s oh so great.
Slopy, stinky, fetid, foul, frowsty [chiefly British], frowsy (or frowzy), funky, fusty, musty, noisome, rank, reeking, reeky, ripe, smelly, stenchy, stinking putrid, rancid, skunky, stale; bad, disgusting, offensive, repulsive, revolting, vile; decayed, decaying, decomposed, decomposing, rotted, rotten, rotting, spoiled, spoiling; dirty, filthy, nasty, noxious; odiferous, odoriferous, odorous & funnybunny ass hiphop in general
Wiz is a wack rapper so I’m not trying to defend his music by any means, but people need to stop worrying about what emcees wear so much. Anytime somebody steps out of the box with their fashion choices people get all up in arms. I’m not saying I think he looks cool, but if I actually liked his music his wardrobe wouldn’t affect my opinion of him.
