With yesterday’s release of the album art for Wiz Khalifa’s O.N.I.F.C., Wiz got an earful from various blog comment sections – including this one – about the art direction.

His stylist, Fatima B, was first to respond, with the following statement. “I can understand both sides of people getting it or not getting it. It’s like Kelis [paving the way with her style] six years ago and you see all these artists now [mimicking it]. If you see how Wiz dresses now, it already gives you this whole hippie feel. This whole ’70s vibe. This sleazy, rockstar-type image. This is what we wanted it to be and we wanted people to see the transition from how Wiz used to dress, up until now. This is where we’re at with the album, the music. It all goes together.”

Wiz took to Twitter to offer his own response to people’s reaction to the album cover as well. “I’m helpin everyone get in touch with their inner sleaze. If you don’t wanna let it out, I’ll express it for you. I’ll be brave enough. ONIFC is not for the scary. It’s about taking risks, so the people that believe what we believe in can feel free. The cover art should give you confidence and let you know that you can fully be yourself in front of people, no matter what they say or think. You don’t have to hide that shit. Let it out. That’s what the artwork really represents. And if you’re still scared, I’ll do it for you. Let’s all grow together!”
