Redman has mentioned in passing that his next LP would be Muddy Waters 2, a sequel to his original 1996 LP, which many call the best of his career. Red released the above image via Instagram, and then took to Twitter to announce work has started on the LP.
“We about to start the Redman 20th Year Anniversary Campaign !! Muddy Waters 2 n progress!! Be a part of it!!,” he tweeted. “Im writn for the new Muddy Waters 2 album as we talk.”
No word if Erick Sermon will be involved, but it seems essential.
I don’t see any point in doing a Muddy Waters part 2 unless it is going to be in the same vein as the original. i.e. no autoune and no wack down south style beats, which have ruined most of his releases since Muddy Waters.
Let’s hope he takes this as seriously as Raekwon did with OBFCL2. If not this could be the death blow for his career that already is on the ropes. I’ll keep my fingers crossed this will be decent but ain’t holding my breath.
yeah, I agree with Pizzo. If Eric Sermon isn’t involved than this isn’t a sequel to “Muddy Waters.” I’ll be guardedly optimistic once I see solid production credits.
@ Model Citizen well that’s not necessarily true cause as I pointed to OBFCL2 Raekwon only used what? One RZA beat on there but he did get the producers to re-imagine RZAs style on each of their beats to make it a cohesive project that sounded like vintage RZA. So if Eric Sermon is not really involved I hope that Redman would do like Raekwon but only time will tell…
@Dayz, yeah, I see your point about OBFCL2, but I would hope Eric Sermon has at least SOME involvement. It also didn’t hurt that Raekwon enlisted the likes of Pete Rock, Marley Marl, Alchemist, Dr. Dre, Necro, and Eric Sermon to fill in the gaps for RZA.
