Arguably the most revered lyricist to ever come out of Philadelphia, Freeway, returns to his roots, once again using his powerful voice to drop gems on listeners with his highly-anticipated solo album, Diamond In The Ruff. Serving as his first official full-length album since teaming up with Jake One for the critically acclaimed 2010 project, The Stimulus Package, Diamond In The Ruff has been years in the making and is truly Freeway’s most illustrious album yet.
The album’s second single is “Numbers” featuring Neef Buck. The two longtime collaborators show that they will not take any shorts or losses on the Sunny Dukes produced track. Free and Neef trade verses breaking down today’s mathematics over a knocking bassline.
Diamond In The Ruff will hit stores worldwide November 27th on Babygrande Records. The album features guest appearances from Wale, Marsha Ambrosius, Vivian Green and more, with production by Just Blaze, Jake One, Bink!, and Needlz, among others.
Sigh… I had a bad feeling we were not gonna get anything close to the Stimulus Package LP with this new one and so far I am right… This is another boring trendy Lil Wayne/Rick Ross/2 Chainz/Hip Pop style beat that I cannot stand! If I hear those rapid fire hi hats one more time I am gonna go postal! Well I never liked anything Freeway has ever done except for Stimulus Package which I hail as a classic LP that I will listen to for years to come. I guess Jake One brought out the best in him and/or he was just in a perfect creative place in his mind at the time of writing those songs. This song is awful! Phew!
