After remixing Outkast’s “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” into a big room, electro anthem earlier this year (“Spottie”), Manik and I decided next we would take on The Beastie Boys’ “Root Down” for our next Hellafine remix. This is one of those tracks that always worked at b-boy parties, but we wanted to be able to play it in a bigger room setting. Hence, this remix.

We started on this idea long before MCA’s passing and in no way want this to be seen as “cashing in” on it. We took a lyric from the original “Root Down” acapella to end the song, which now takes on new meaning: “Enough of that, just want to pay some respect. MCA…..”
