Lupe Fiasco, who is no fan of Barack Obama, was somehow booked to perform at the Start Up Rock On presidental inauguration party on Sunday. During his set, he performed a 30-minute rendition of “Words I Never Said”, which included anti-Obama references in the lyrics. As seen in the video below, he is approached by a large, suited gentleman, which results in a minor scuffle, and them him being escorted off stage.
A representative for Start Up Rock On said Obama lyrics were not the reason he was pulled, but instead because of a lack-luster performance.
“Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant,’” the company said in a statement. “We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”
does it really matter why he was pulled off stage? he sucks anyway. get rid of the hair too.
Agreed!!
Where are these comments when they report on real garbage? Much like most musicians, it was hard for him to best his early work. He’s a talented lyricist and has put out some classics. I think it’s dope what he did. And who cares what a musicians hair looks like? So you’re saying you come to the website for the pictures and videos? Lolz
It’s obvious he was sending a message to the president. I for one completely support Lupe Fiasco. Not a huge fan of his latest album, but it’s grown on me as of late. He is one of the better artists in the Hip Hop culture.
