Rolling Stone reports that Q-Tip will “sprinkle his album” – The Last Zulu, due next Spring on G.O.O.D. Music / Def Jam – with individual appearances from his A Tribe Called Quest family, including Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi.
“I’ll probably get them on my album,” Q-Tip said at the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding’s Young Leadership Benefit in New York on Monday, where he’s recording for the album.
Tip added that touring is the group’s main focus, however. “We love performing. There’s a lot of places around the world that we’ve yet to hit, believe it or not,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’re probably gonna just concentrate on the rest of the world. We’ve kind of played America.”
Damn, I thought it was coming out this spring. Well if it takes that long to get them together then so be it.
Well hopefully from touring the globe and seeing all the love and appreciation the entire world has for them it will inspire one more LP… This fan can dream right? Keeping my fingers crossed…
Hopefully we can get a Tribe album and have it be on a different label than GOOD music. I am not hyped about a new Q-tip project, but I would love to hear that Tribe sound again.
