Whoa. Jay-Z has announced his new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail“, via Samsung Galaxy. The press release states: “Be among the first million to download the app on June 24th and get the album free July 4th, three days before the rest of the world.”

Which means the album will be released July 7th to the commonfolk / iPhone users.

“We don’t have any rules. Everyone is trying to figure it out. That’s why the internet is like the wild west. The wild wild west. We need to write the new rules,” says Jay in the clip below, in regards to the album’s unconventional release method.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen images of Jay in the studio with each Kanye West, Timbaland, Raekwon, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Nas, Drake, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled, all of whom may be collaborators on the project. We have reposted these photos for your convenience.

The beat that starts at 1:31 though

I agree..the one that starts at 1:31 sounded the illest of the bunch. First one sounded ill too, but not sure about the percussion.

Sorry, I don’t want to hear Justin Timberlake or Drake flooded all through this album. Plus, this seems so gimmicky. Jay Z hasn’t made anything that great in a long time, so I can’t say that I will be hyped for a free download with the download of the app. i’ll just get this album free from the net, and then probably delete the album after one listen, like every album since blueprint.

Beats sounded pretty choice to me, definitely got my attention. The thing is Jay has been a part of the 1% for so long and so fat removed from the average man that his music is just not relateable and worse he’s dumbed down the lyrics and flows while still rhymin’ everyone’s heads with his ego and bank account. He was absolutely amazing when he first came out and I can’t knock his hustle for real but he just doesn’t speak to me and I am bored of his songs after one or two listens. Maybe this will be dope? I’ll definitely listen… I too wish he’d do a whole LP with Rick Rubin, that would be bonkers!

I haven’t felt Jay in a while. Even at that, he built up dumb credit points with me over his golden years so I’ll always check for him no matter how out of touch or wackily dressed he is. I’m always hoping for another “New Shine” or “Politics as Usual.” And oh yeah, not having Premo in the studio is blasphemous. They missing some blunts, crates, and an SP 12.
