Whoa. Jay-Z has announced his new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail“, via Samsung Galaxy. The press release states: “Be among the first million to download the app on June 24th and get the album free July 4th, three days before the rest of the world.”

Which means the album will be released July 7th to the commonfolk / iPhone users.

“We don’t have any rules. Everyone is trying to figure it out. That’s why the internet is like the wild west. The wild wild west. We need to write the new rules,” says Jay in the clip below, in regards to the album’s unconventional release method.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen images of Jay in the studio with each Kanye West, Timbaland, Raekwon, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Nas, Drake, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled, all of whom may be collaborators on the project. We have reposted these photos for your convenience.

@ Hodges yes I meant to say the same thing, this project seems to be crying out for DJ Premier! I might add along with Rick Rubin I’d love to hear an entire Jay LP produced by Preem. I also want to add why does Jay pander to the sheep these recent years? Dude is basically a billionaire and one of the most enfluential people in the world. Dude doesn’t ever need to make another penny of rap music so why not drop the dopest underground lyrically lucid ill sh!t??? I think he still has it in him so why make radio hits when he could make any damn song he wants!?! The sheep will follow the shepard and he could open up the ears of so many to truly great Hip Hop music if he wanted… Just sayin’…

That’s a good way of looking at it…

Personally, I am excited about the new album just as I am with all his releases. I know his last couple of joints left a bit to be desired compared to his earlier work, but they were straight fire compared to what’s been going on in the last couple of years. And I do agree that he should not have to make another album for the “sheep “, but whatever he makes will be a welcome alternative to Future, Trinidad James, etc. Like him or hate him, Jigga is the truth, and definitely one of the best that has ever done it, period.

Okay I just now looked at the clip again. I don’t know when it became so cool to not give Jay all of his props, but I refuse to believe that I am the only one who is geeked up for this joint!
