Whoa. Jay-Z has announced his new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail“, via Samsung Galaxy. The press release states: “Be among the first million to download the app on June 24th and get the album free July 4th, three days before the rest of the world.”

Which means the album will be released July 7th to the commonfolk / iPhone users.

“We don’t have any rules. Everyone is trying to figure it out. That’s why the internet is like the wild west. The wild wild west. We need to write the new rules,” says Jay in the clip below, in regards to the album’s unconventional release method.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen images of Jay in the studio with each Kanye West, Timbaland, Raekwon, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Nas, Drake, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled, all of whom may be collaborators on the project. We have reposted these photos for your convenience.

Dayz said it exactly right. Jay could make a great underground joint and bring hip hop back to what it is supposed to be. I would actuallly like to hear Jay Z over an entire album worth of Premo beats. To me Jay Z has always been at his best when he is teamed up with Premo. My problem with Jay Z over the last decade or so, is that even with all that money, he continues to sell out and make pop nonsense. Plus his affiliation with Obama shows his true colors, that he is nothing more than a sheep himself. This album and its promotion reaks of gimmick. Some of the beats sounds fresh, but nothing earth-shattering. Timberland’s beat sounds like a 2013 version of every other Timberland beat. I just can’t be excited about this guy any longer, and American gangster was decent but it was far from the truth, as a lot of you Jay Z nut riders keep trying to convince everyone. And Roy, you aren’t the only ones excited for this album, I know a lot of psuedo trendy hipster whiteboys that will eat this and Kanye’s latest turd up.

As some or all of you are probably aware about the new platinum guidelines with regards to downloading content, Jay Z is guaranteed platinum success with this samsung gimmick ( http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/05/streaming-now-counts-toward-gold-and-platinum-album-certification/ )
even if the album does suck and doesn’t actually sell well history will say it went platinum because every droid will download without question.
Jay Z rarely fails to deliver some terrific tunes on each of his album.
I too echo the sentiments an Jay Preemo would be fantastic rather than the commercial dumbed down uhhhh rap.
No King is going to give up his throne without a fight
