New York rapper Talib Kweli shares his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s much talked about “King of NY” line on Big Sean’s “Control,” revealing that he’s actually quoting Kurupt on the track. He also reveals if Kendrick is on his radar for lyricism, and explains his Twitter response to the situation.
Canibus was a perfect example on my mind. Kendrick still a new cat and only released one album. He might be using all the stuff he’s stored up and then he’ll run dry. Similar to Canibus.
Talib Kweli might be thinking of Jay-Z with that down south shit. Jay-Z’s new album had a bunch of Down South influenced beats.
that’s cus his 90% of his beats are Timbo beats..but Jay doesn’t wrap like he’s from the south though
Jay z been on that soufside ish (see UGK) & I’m actually cool with that. At the same damn time, I feels like a lot these east coast cats need to put they mouf on it or zip it up when it comes to that souf. That Southside still holdin mayne.
Talib Kweli has always something sensible to say. He made a lot of good points in this clip.
