Funk Flex debuted this remix of Jay’s fan-favorite cut, “Tom Ford”, featuring verses from Pimp C, from beyond the grave. Meanwhile, in honor of his birthday, Jay ranked his albums in from best-to-worst. Maybe not worst, as neither of The Best Of Both Worlds projects made it on here. We think he could have ranked Vol. 3 much higher. If you’re feeling nostalgic, check out our archived reviews of each record with the links, where provided.

Jay-Z’s list, with his own commentary:

1. Reasonable Doubt (Classic)
2. The Blueprint (Classic)
3. The Black Album (Classic)
4. Vol. 2 (Classic)
5. American Gangster (4 1/2, cohesive)
6. Magna Carta (Fuckwit, Tom Ford, Oceans, Beach, On the Run, Grail)
7. Vol. 1 (Sunshine kills this album…fuck… Streets, Where I’m from, You Must Love Me…)
8. BP3 (Sorry critics, it’s good. Empire (Gave Frank a run for his money))
9. Dynasty (Intro alone…)
10. Vol. 3 (Pimp C verse alone… oh, So Ghetto)
11. BP2 (Too many songs. Fucking Guru and Hip Hop, ha)
12. Kingdom Come (First game back, don’t shoot me)

By the way. Am I the only one who thinks that Tom Ford remix is even worse than the original garbage record? Such a waste of talent….

@Glenn(or whomever)statements like that Rolling Stone ish is the reason why “old-school hip hop heads” Like Lord Jamar call non black heads “guests” in hip hop. FUCK ROLLING STONE! Jigga is as much of an hip-hop aficionado as any herb on this site. No disrespect, but the art form is not defined by any entity at this point. :)
    Peace…..

Vol 1 and BP 2 are definitely the bottom of the barrel for me. The rest are debatable to the masses.

Any herb on this site, LOL! Yeah we all got some strong words and opinions about MCs… I still say post for post I haven’t found another website where the Hip Hop/Rap discussions are as educated as they are here. Most other site’s trollers are ignorant pieces of garbage that are nothing but for real herb internet thugs actin’ tough behind their screen names and looking just to put people down and incite arguments. Props to all the regulars here at HHS for keeping things civilized.

@days all internet fukery aside, I stand by my pov that jigga is as well versed as as anyone on hhs or at rolling stone to render an appraisal of his own work. You ain’t got to like the ninja but it takes a special kind of herb not to respect it. That being said, I would love for heads to enlighten about me about any solo mcs with a more consise catalogs than Hov.
