Things get heated on CNN, as Don Lemon interviews Talib Kweli about the situation Ferguson. In the following clips, Killer Mike speaks with the network on the topic as well.
Yes,America/Americans the most “peaceful” place/people in the world… The country’s history and present is that of slavery, Jim Crow & #1 world prison population. Let’s just leave the unrest/violence related to domestic issues out of this though. Consider this, a year-by-year timeline of America’s wars, which reveals something quite interesting: since the United States was founded in 1776, she has been at war during 214 out of her 235 calendar years of existence. In other words, there were only 21 calendar years in which the U.S. did not wage any wars.
To put this in perspective:
* Pick any year since 1776 and there is about a 91% chance that America was involved in some war during that calendar year.
* No U.S. president truly qualifies as a peacetime president. Instead, all U.S. presidents can technically be considered “war presidents.”
* The U.S. has never gone a decade without war.
* The only time the U.S. went five years without war (1935-40) was during the isolationist period of the Great Depression.
On some level the fruit that a country reaps has a connection to works it sows. Iduno, maybe my pov is a bit overly holistic.
The truth is the situation in Ferguson has highlighted many on going issues in our society that the media attempts to minimalize and marginalize certain members of our society. What people need to see is this country is about and has always been about war and the militarization of our police force has enabled local law enforcement to declare war on us as citizens; black white and everyone in between. Police need to be held accountable for their actions. there needs to be strict federal regulations on military grade weapons of war along with training requirments and police need to he required to wear body cameras.
