His name says it all; standing at well over six feet tall and with the intimidating muscular build of a linebacker, Big Shug's physical presence alone is enough to command attention. His voice, a hoarse rumble effective for delivering both fearsome threats or smooth crooning as his alter-ego Shugie Diamonds, is one of rap's most instantly recognizable. As both a solo artist and founding member of Gang Starr, his name has consistently shown up in album credits alongside hip-hop's elite for over 20 years.

But despite that, Shug has never courted the spotlight. As countless other rappers, and even Gang Starr themselves, fell by the wayside, he has persevered through fans' evolving tastes and a changing record industry by staying true to the ideals - integrity, respect for the streets and love of music - that have fueled his career. Nowhere is that more apparent than on I.M. 4-EVA.

Stitching together the various parts of his career into one, this album, true to its title, is a comprehensive look at who Big Shug is, where he came from and where he is going. With his bruising flow over classic DJ Premier produced cuts bringing back nostalgic 90s memories, he pays tribute to the fans who have stuck with him since the beginning. I.M. 4-Eva - Shug's fourth solo album and his first since 2008's Other Side of the Game - marks the next chapter in his ongoing maturation as an artist. The album reunites Shug with old friends like M.O.P., Fat Joe and Premier, while also connecting with a new generation of hip-hop fans via collaborations with Reks, Termanology, Singapore Kane and Slaine.

In addition to the 17 all new studio cuts Brick Records has presented a timeless package; a hard back, 36 page book chronicling The True History of Gang Starr as told by Big Shug, plus anecdotes from his 20+ year career, rare never before seen vintage photos and more. Through his words and his music, Big Shug truly shows here why he is 4-EVA. Big Shug’s I.M. 4-Eva LP and The True History of Gang Starr will be released on 7-24-2012.

On July 17th, YG Hootie & A-Wax will release their debut collaborative LP, Interstate Trafficking. The Bay- and Los Angeles-based rappers announced the album a few weeks back with the Gucci Mane-featuring lead single, "Make Room," and while the album will also include features from Waka Flocka Flame, Too $hort, and others, today, YG & A-Wax are excited to release a video for "No Compass," a track from their forthcoming Trap-A-Holics-hosted pre-album sampler. The video is directed by Waka Flocka's video team, Blind Folks Vision.

While previous tracks, including "Make Room" and the more recent "Doin' Something Wrong," have shown off YG & A-Wax's harder edge, for "No Compass," the two rappers grab a recent beat from producer AraabMuzik for their most laid-back track so far. YG & A-Wax trade introspective verses back and forth to start the track, building ultimately to A-Wax's slightly harmonized hook as he raps, matching the beat's washed-out feel, "I'm not sure which way to go/ No compass, I'm faded though/ Life sure is one bumpy ride/ wish someone would pave the road/ Came so far, got ways to go."

Quake Matthews has returned to the scene with his sophomore release The Book Of Matthew. The track and accompanying music video mark the first solo effort for the Halifax hip-hop artist since 2010’s The Myth.

The Book Of Matthew is available for free download at quakematthews.com. The 11-track project features production from industry heavy-weights like J. Cardim (Lil Wayne, Joe Budden, Ludacris) and Tone Mason (Drake, Jay-Z) and guest appearances from Freeway, Termanology and Canadian R&B crooner JRDN.

The 23-year old described the project “I feel I’ve really come into my own as an artist since The Myth was released. I named the album The Book Of Matthew because it’s a very reflective, personal record of my journey thus far in music. I want to give fans a taste of everything, not just the good times, but the highs the lows and all the moments that define who I am in between.”

Next week, on May 22nd, Hieroglyphics rapper Casual will release his latest album, He Still Think He Raw. The album, which will be released through Hiero Imperium, is produced entirely by DJ Fresh & The Whole Shabang, and today, following a string of previous video and single leaks, Casual is excited to release a brand new track from the album, "Sushi" featuring Mr. Town.

"This song was inspired by the production," says Casual, pointing out the beat's loose, heavy drums and slickly chopped sample. "DJ Fresh's beat did it all." Atop that beat, Casual, with the help of Mr. Town, unwinds a series of stroies, each one a sly, salacious tale. "I sip wine, with this chick of mine/ When I see a little fine mama, with a behind on her," raps Casual. "See, mama didn't know that I was sushi/ 'Till she seen other baby trying to seduce me/ No she's choosing/ And I'm her top pick/ That's what she get/ For thinking she was hot shit."
