Flying Lotus directs this video from Bilal’s Airtight’s Revenge LP, available now on VTech and Plug Research. Cameos in the video include Erykah Badu, Thundercat, and Shafiq Husayn (who produced the track).

“I originally wanted to keep visual themes with another video from my last LP called ‘mmhmm’ off of my last album. It featured Thundercat as an intergalactic bass player in a super strange world created by ‘Special Problems’. Since Thundercat was part of this song, I thought it could be fun to continue the visual style and feel of this space opera,” said Flying Lotus. “In the end you have this crazy video made of so much mixed media, geek dreams and lots of love.”

Bilal’s album “Airtight’s Revenge” drops in less than one week! Throughout the last few months, there have been plenty of interviews with Bilal from various outlets. Today, Plug Research is proud to present probably one of the most in depth interviews with Bilal, when he was in Los Angeles in late 2009 for Shafiq Husayn’s (SA-RA) “Cheeba” music video. The interview was conducted by Sweeney Kovar and shot by Eric Coleman (Mochilla) and runs through a variety of topics ranging from his early influence in jazz music, meeting Common and Erykah Badu, recording in Electric Lady Studios, his dealings with Interscope and Dr. Dre, and the bootleg and leak of his shelved classic, “Love For Sale.”
