Dame Dash’s DD172 / Blu Roc Records imprint was on display last month in Brooklyn, showing off the talents of Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T., Trademark, Smoke DZA, Rugz D. Bewler, Tabi Bonney, Nesby Phips, and Stalley, all over live music from Ski Beatz and The Sensei’s. This all Greek to you? Then this is the starting point for a new movement in hip-hop…. Dame spoke with MTV on the reinvention of Roc-A-Fella Records under the eye of Dame Dash.

“If Jay wanna come through and do something, he can come holla at me,” Dash told MTV. “I ain’t got no beefs with Jay. Just off the strength that it’s Roc-A-Fella, I could never tell Jay he can’t be a part of something he helped create,” he added.

“So maybe it felt ridiculous that he said [me and Biggs couldn't be a part of Roc-A-Fella once we sold the company] and a Roc-A-Fella purists didn’t appreciate that. If I walked away from Roc-A-Fella, then that would be different. But the option should always be there. So the option is there for him. He helped build that. And I don’t hold grudges. I think one of the most important things in evolving is forgiveness. If he did something wrong or if I did something wrong, we’d have to forgive each other, or we’d still be children.”

Here’s the most interesting part. The label’s first two releases? Curren$y’s Pilot Talk, currently slated for June 15 and Ski Beatz’s 24 Hour Karate School. [Source: MTV]

Dame figures that with Jay off doing his own thing with Roc Nation, he should take the reigns over from Roc-A-Fella, perhaps as a home for Curren$y’s Pilot Talk. Wishful thinking? He says “it’s natural and it’s working out”….
