K’naan makes an appearance on CNN.Com, discussing the World Cup, learning English through hip-hop music and being described as “Dylanesque”. For those scoring at home, that’s “Dylan” as in Bob Dylan, not “spit hot fire” DYlan from Making The Band.

The above video is the original version of “Wavin’ Flag” by K’NAAN, which was recently remixed for Canada’s Young Artists For Haiti benefit that we previewed here earlier this weekend. The video mix is K’s solo version, which has been described as “inspirational” and “uplifting”. That said, it will be used to peddle Coca-Cola, and does not feature all of the guest artists on the benefit version. Speaking of which, wasn’t Justin Bieber on our “We Are The World”? Now he’s on the Canadian version?? Little turncoat bastard.

K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag” previously off his latest album Troubadour has been remixed to help support the victims of Haiti.  With 50 Canadian artists including Drake, K’naan, Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Kardinal Offishall to just name a few, this song has already become the number 1 single for Canadian iTunes, and  the number 2 video on Canadian iTunes.  The track is below along with the iTunes link to purchase for $1.29 if your so inclined.

Once the snow is gone in the Spring, three of the dopest rappers out will team up for one helluva tour, sure to generate long lines. Wale, K’Naan, and John Forte will do some interstate trafficking when they hit the road on March 31st for a 9-date tour that promises not to blow.

K’naan was recently sponsored by Coke, who licensed his track “Wavin’ Flag” for the 2010 World Cup. Dates are follows:

These guys have a new album coming out.

Beatnik & K-Salaam have announced that they will be releasing a new LP, Where The Streets Have No Name, which will debut on Imeem.Com on July 25th and 26th, and will be available to the public shortly thereafter. The album includes a long list of collaborators, with each Young Buck, Talib Kweli, Bun B, Lil Wayne, K’naan, Buckshot, Colin Munroe, Demarco, U-N-I, Tabi Bonney, Mikkey Halsted, Glasses Malone, Haziq Ali, and others making appearances. The first single will be “Don’t Die”, featuring Talib Kweli, Bun B, and Colin Munroe.

“This summer is about to get real hot. Believe that,” the duo said in a statement, global warming not withstanding.
