Eleven years after the original release of Little Brother’s seminal debut, The Listening, MySpace has done a retrospective article on the album, which includes interviews with Rapper Big Pooh, Chaundon, and yours truly. Check it out here. Peep a snippet below.

DJ Pizzo: The first time I heard of Little Brother was when Phonte sent us a demo of kinda like parody songs, like he was making fun of hip-hop tracks at the time so there would be the thug song—like “I thug, I thug, I thug!”—‘cause that was so big at the time. It was a burned CD with all text written on it. We used to get demos all the time though—like literally five a day—so I threw it in this crate with the intention to listen to it later. But I guess the demo did fall into the hands of Beni B at ABB Records.

Big Pooh: The reaction was super flattering, man. People you grew up listening to were in turn praising what you were doing. We were upcoming artists and we were hearing artists that at one point or another were at the top of the game saying these things about our music. It was a priceless moment.

This week Out Da Box Radio features accomplished North Carolina Emcee “Rapper Big Pooh” of the legendary hip hop group Little Brother. Pooh took the time to speak on a range of intriguing topics including his beginnings as an emcee, the sacrifices he made being a part of Little Brother, his personality impact on the group and more. He even cleared the record on the possibility of a future Little Brother reunion, expressing that him and 9th Wonder have actually began to reconcile their differences, but the group is still far from rejoining. As the interview progressed, Pooh gave further details on his growth as a solo artist, his recent work with Slum Village and his outlook on being a balanced business man / artist (i.e. doing it for the love vs the money).

Although Phonte has not worked with Drake since “Think Good Thoughts” on Comeback Season, he talks about the possibility of working together again in the future.

In a recent interview w/ The Village Voice, Drake speaks on a missed opportunity to work with Phonte of Little Brother.

“With me and Tay, I kinda dropped the ball on a feature he needed me to do, just being 100% honest. I really wanted to do a record with him, and we actually did do a record for my album, and then something happened with the producer and the beat, and it started getting funny so I had to scrap the record. And then he was like, “Well, can you do this feature for me,” and at the time I was trying to find my sound and trying to figure out what this album was going to be about, and I kind of let it slip through the cracks. That was my fault, and I do apologize to Phonte for that. But I still want to make it happen; I talked to 9th Wonder about trying to make it happen, we’ll get it eventually. He knows he’s one of the biggest influences on my career.”

With Phonte and 9th Wonder’s albums in the bag, the third of the trio steps up with this single from Dirty Pretty Things, hitting Nov. 1.

While we still haven’t seen a reuniting of the holy Little Brother trinity, each of the group’s members will release album’s by the end of 2011. Starting in July, Rapper Big Pooh will team with Stones Throw alum, Roc C, to form the Young Americans, and will release an as-of-yet untitled EP. Following that will be the September 27th release of Phonte Coleman’s long-overdue solo LP, Charity Starts At Home, as well as 9th Wonder’s The Wonder Years LP, via his IWWMG imprint. 9th will produce most of the tracks on Phonte’s LP, as the two have put aside past differences, while 9th’s LP will include collaborations with each Mac Miller, Warren G, Murs, Talib Kweli, Big K.R.I.T., Kendrick Lamar and others.

Drake and producer 40 speak to Nardwuar about Little Brother, Big L, the bra stand, and much more.

Drake made two interesting reveals in the last 24 hours, first that he has a shrine dedicated to Andre 3000 in his home. He told Paper Magazine, “I have a shrine in my apartment dedicated to Andre. I took a door off a barn and had an artist take the lyrics from his verses [and put them] on this barn door. As soon as you walk into my apartment that’s the first thing you see.” In other news, speaking to Peter Rosenberg on UStream today, he revealed that Phonte of Little Brother will collaborate with him on his second LP. Longtime fans know this is not their first collaboration, as Little Brother was featured on Drake’s underground “Comeback Season” mixtape release in 2007. “Miss Me” video is coming soon.
