Rapper Big Pooh has signed a two project deal with Mello Music Group for 2014. The first project is with legendary producer Nottz and will be released this summer on MMG. The second project is an extended EP produced by Mello beat-makers exclusively. To celebrate Mello Music Group is giving away a new track from Rapper Big Pooh off the just released Mandala Vol. 2, Today’s Mathematics.

Those new to Rapper Big Pooh have a lot of listening to catch up on, from his start the legendary group Little Brother, to more recent work with Kendrick Lamar. Mello Music Group first worked with Big Pooh in 2009 on a song with Georgia Anne Muldrow and MED titled “Endure”, and then for the track “Drugs Outside” with Oddisee and Black Milk. MMG is reportedly excited to finally have Rapper Big Pooh working with the squad in 2014.

Volume 1, Polysonic Flows is an art-house collection that dips beneath the surface of emceeing and production into the sometimes strange worlds of the creators themselves. Firmaly rooted in MMG core producers, Oddisee, Quelle Chris, Has-Lo, and L’Orange hold down the bulk of production here with additional contributions from Dudley Perkins on production, as well as Duke Westlake’s gorgeous contribution with Georgia Anne Muldrow.

Volume 2, Today’s Mathematics is a straight 1-2 combination – boom bap. Apollo Brown helms the second addition along with SP1200 jedi Gensu Dean and Audible Doctor for the bulk of production. Duke Westlake, 14KT, and Georgia Anne Muldrow lend production to Vol. 2 as well. The emcees Murs, Stik Figa, Fredro Starr, Muhsinah, Blacastan, Ugly Heroes, and Rapper Big Pooh all contribute serious word play to the collection.

It’s SXSW season and Mello Music Group’s Oddisee, Apollo Brown, Gensu Dean, and yU have teamed up with Muve Music, CricketNation and 2DB to launch their latest exclusive compilation. The new Mello Muve Compilation features exclusive new songs, commentary and classic tracks.

New video off of MC/Producer Has-Lo’s debut album “In Case I Don’t Make It”. Looking forward to this album as I thought Has-Lo’s “Black Rose” was a standout on the stellar “Helpless Dreamer” compilation from Mello Music Group (released late 2010). The cd release for “In Case I Don’t Make It” is March 29th.
