From Loyalty Digital: “Sadat X has spent the last two years preparing an album a whole generation of Hip-Hop fans have been waiting for. On January 20, 2015 Sadat will deliver “Never Left”, a project that celebrates his illustrious career and serves as a testament to New York City’s continued ability to fit in today’s musical landscape.

Sadat conceptualized the project with Fokis after the two had worked together on several projects under Fokis’ Loyalty Digital Corp. imprint. The idea was simple, “a lot of people have the perception that at some point you’re supposed to just turn it off like a switch,” explains the Brand Nubian co-founder.”I still love Hip-Hop every day, I’m still Hip-Hop every day. It’s my lifestyle, it’s what I grew up on. So I just tried to transcribe that through music and let people in my generation know that it’s okay to still love rap. You don’t have to be trapped by what’s played on the radio or the mainstream. There’s something out there for you.””

Earlier this year, Zion I has returned with their Libations EP, the second installment of a three part series the duo is working on. Libations is the follow up album to Master of Ceremonies, the first installment of their free trilogy, which focuses on high energy music where the listener feels invigorated and can be taken to a different state of mind. Complete with a multitude of artists and debuted by XXL, “Get Urs” is a new visual from the indie hip-hop fusion group. The video features flashy backdrops, iconic photographs and close-ups with each featured guest. The track was produced by Headnodic and features Mr. Lif, Kev Choice, Deuce Eclipse, Opio, and Sadat X spitting their own verses as each rapper stamps their unique brand on the video.

Introduced as part two of their trilogy, Libations is completely different from its predecessor. The album dropped via URB and features more emotion themes, specifically memories and reflection. Zumbi explains, “This project was heavily influenced by one of my best friends passing away suddenly. His death put me in a mood to really analyze my life and how short this existence really can be. It opened my eyes and heart to both the ugliness and beauty of what we experience while alive.” Hence, Libations broods with reflection and deep emotion. “To me, libation is when you honor someone by pouring out your brew before you sip, its a sort of prayer. On this EP, I poured out some liquor for my homie, as well as my family, and myself.” The EP features production from AMP Live, Headnodic, and newcomer Featherload, along with rappers Mr Lif, Sadat X, and Opio of Souls of Mischief.

Directed by Cory Ring. Produced by Headnodic.
From the folks at HipNOTT: “It’s been 3 years since Detroit Hip Hop duo The Regiment released their album The Panic Button on HiPNOTT Records. Since then, OSI and IseQold have been busy building their brand and working with other dope people in the industry. Today, we are happy to annouce that The Regiment is back home at HiPNOTT Records!

To celebrate today’s news, we have a brand new track for free download. Produced by Japan’s DJ Duct, the new single “Raise Up” has The Regiment teaming up with Sadat X (of Brand Nubian) and El Da Sensei (of The Artifacts). Trust us, the song is amazing and is indicative of the new music you’ll be hearing here at HiPNOTT.”
It’s The M Recordings: “Although we may use the terms rapper and emcee interchangeably, don’t let Innocent? hear that nonsense coming out your mouth. A gully assassin who has spent his whole life rolling with the punches, his dedication to the game is evidence that skills are more important than flashy trends. If you’ve been sleeping on hard hitting wordsmiths as of late, “Proof In Numbers” is the crash course on what it takes to survive the daily grind in the concrete jungle. As Inno drops science–more specifically mathematics–to the unschooled, fellow professor Sadat X drops a verse that’s equivalent to a verbal dissertation over this potent boom bap jam. Stay tuned for Innocent?’s upcoming full length ‘Love It Or Hate It,’ which is set for a 4th quarter release.”
Another sneak peak of what’s to come from Modern Vintage, the all new upcoming full length album from veteran emcee/visionary John Robinson and drummer/composer/producer PVD, which will be released on Brick Records on June 17th, 2014.

Modern Vintage is the new collaboration album from veteran emcee John Robinson (aka Lil Sci of world renown Hip-Hop group Scienz Of Life) and prolific drummer, composer, producer and band-leader Pat Van Dkye (aka PVD). John Robinson and PVD originally met at a show in 2008 and since then their chemistry has grown organically and has developed into the duo performing many formal shows together at venues like SOB’s, Blue Note NYC, LPR and others around the NY-NJ Tristate area.

Modern Vintage spells out the approach in which this album was made from front to back: The music was composed with a combination of modern technology software mixed with vintage synths and outboard gear, all blended seamlessly with live instrumentation being the foundation. The lyrics and concepts were all spontaneously crafted in the studio, session by session, by letting the soundscapes speak to the lyricist similar to how vintage recordings of the 60’s & 70’s were created.

“I took a much more structured songwriting approach to the lyrics on this album; my goal from the beginning of making this record was to take advantage of the fact that I am working with PVD- a composer/musician and not just a beat maker/producer, which definitely makes this record different from my other releases. This one is for all the true music lovers worldwide” says John Robinson. PVD states “making this record was a dream come true. From the very first session, we set out to craft quality songs that capture a cohesive vibe and feel good. In many cases, JR was writing to merely a sketch of what actually ended up on the record. It felt great to work with an artist who trusted me enough to lend his talents to the music not knowing where I would take it sonically. Live drums, keys, guitars, horns, and synths give this record a distinctly human feel that is present in all of my favorite records, old and new. A modern-day true Hip-Hop record, grounded firmly in the traditions of jazz, funk, and soul music.”

John Robinson & PVD’s Modern Vintage is now transmitting live to the world; catch the vibes on June 17th, 2014 via Brick Records.
