Man Bites Dog Records is proud to present Esoteric’s and Stu Bangas new music video “Wonder Why” from their album Machete Mode. Man Bites Dog Records has been on a tear over the past couple years, with recent albums from MHz Legacy, Stu Bangas & Vanderslice, Copywrite, Vast Aire, and more. And with a busy year still ahead, including upcoming releases from Eddie B & Harry Fraud, Illogic & Blockhead, Roc Marciano, and others, label founder R.M.L. is first excited to release MBDR Volume 2, out today and available for free download via the label’s SoundCloud.

Volume 2 is full of original, exclusive songs that will only be available on this album, and the project includes features and production from the likes of Copywrite, Bronze Nazareth, Hayze, Curly Castro, Killah Priest, Stu Bangas, Double A.B., Vanderslice, Kount Fif, Reef The Lost Cause, Jason Rose, and more. And while the label could have easily released this project through retail, label founder R.M.L. is instead offering the project for free download as a thank you to the label’s supportive fans. “In this climate, anyone can download music illegally,” remarks R.M.L., “so I wanted to reward our fans that do the right thing and pay to support our records.”

As a follow-up to MBDR Volume 1, released a few years back, Volume 2, which was mixed and mastered at Royal Crown Studios offers fans an updated look at the label’s talented roster. “I think this is a good introduction to some of the new faces on the label, both emcees and producers,” explains R.M.L. “For fans, it’s a nice warm welcome to what makes Man Bites Dog Records special.”
Stu Bangas & Vanderslice are still riding high on the success of their recent album, Diggaz With Attitude, released in late summer via Man Bites Dog Records. The album, which has been met with high acclaim and strong reviews, featured the likes of Roc Marciano, The Alchemist, Evidence, Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled, Planet Asia, La Coka Nostra, and more, including Apathy and Wais P, both of whom appear on the latest single from the album, “Vikings,” released today.

The video is centered around a nightmarish dentist visit, with in-between shots of the two rolling around as probably the most intimidating golfers in recent memory. “I wanted to do something that was opposite from the vibe of the song,” says video director R.M.L. “Who knew where the nitrous binge would lead?” The video was shot in a real dentist office, which took some special care and effort, says the crew. “The most challenging scene was lighting the dentist office during the nightmare scene,” recalled R.M.L., noting that the guys still found some time to cut loose on set. “Also Wais P. was sloshing around the bag of teeth, and the teeth juice was going everywhere.”
Following the late-August release of their new full length album, Diggaz With Attitude, producers Stu Bangas & Vanderslice have kept the ball rolling with a string of new videos and singles. All told, the production duo has released a collection of singles that have featured the likes of Roc Marciano, The Alchemist, Evidence, Apathy, Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled, Planet Asia, and more, and today, Stu & Vander are excited to release the video for the latest single from DWA, for the song “The Realest,” which features rappers Ill Bill and Slaine of La Coka Nostra.

“The Realest,” premiered today by Prefix, like the fan-favorite video for “1st Degree Murder,” which now has over 40,000 views on YouTube, features a collage of footage, pulled from various trippy clips that includes video of riots, military take-downs, and more. Ill Bill and Slaine add their own element to the raw, heavy-hitting beat, delivering hardcore verses that fit right in with the video’s adrenaline-inducing images. “Slaine came over one afternoon and picked the beat and recorded his verse that night,” says Stu Bangas, who produced this particular track. “I’ve worked with Slaine for years, and then, when I started working with Bill, I thought it would be dope to get him on it.”
This week, Stu Bangas & Vanderslice released their new album, Diggaz With Attitude. The long-hyped project is proving to be worth the wait; the two producers’ shared love for sinister chops and heavy drums pairs well with the album’s impressive line-up of guests, a list that includes Roc Marciano, The Alchemist, Evidence, Apathy, Ill Bill, Celph Titled, Blaq Poet, Esoteric, and more. To celebrate release this week, the two producers are now releasing the video for the album’s latest single, “Half Dead,” which features Apathy, Roc Marciano, and Planet Asia.

For listeners not yet familiar with Diggaz With Attitude, “Half Dead” is a perfect example of what fans can look forward to with the album. Track producer Stu Bangas sets the tone from jump, letting an old rock sample run, before quickly – and deftly – chopping it up into a descent of piano keys and bass. Apathy takes the first verse (“Ill as Jason Bourne when I’m blacking out,” he raps), while Roc Marciano holds down the second verse, bars full of the slick drug talk that fans have come to love. Planet Asia takes hook duties on the track, also delivering the song’s closing verse. The video, directed by R.M.L., offers a fitting visual for the song, with gritty, dimly lit shots of the three trading bars, joined by cameos from Rhymefest, Xzibit, and more.
