Andre 3000 will portray Jimi Hendrix in All Is By My Side, which is currently filming in Ireland. Hendrix’s estate is unfortunately not allowing any songs written by Jimi in the film (?), however the producers have cleverly found a way around the hurdle.

Instead, Andre 3000 has cut cover versions of songs that Hendrix himself covered, including The Beatles “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, as well as “Wild Thing,” “Hound Dog,” Muddy Waters’ “Mannish Boy” and Elmore James’ “Bleeding Heart,” plus “Future Trip” and “Driving South,” on which originally Hendrix played backup on for Curtis Knight and the Squires.

He just appeared on Ciara’s “Ride Remix”, his partner Big Boi is about to drop Sir Lucious Leftfoot, and now he’s done a Beatles cover for a Nike commercial. Surely this isn’t all coincidence?
