Rapper / producer and Chicago native Tree keeps his city on the map and celebrates success with the single “LIke Whoa,” presented by Scion AV.

The collaborative project features Lennon of Project Mayhem and Taylor Outlaw.

Born and raised in Chicago, MC Tree has embraced all the Windy City has to offer culturally. He has his own unique style which he calls “soul trap,” incorporating elements of soul, funk, and blues mixed with the passion and edge of the Chicago rap scene. In 2012 he dropped his breakthrough release Sunday School, and in 2013 followed it up with his critically acclaimed Sunday School 2. For his third project he teamed up with Scion AV for a sample free EP that both highlights his diverse Chicago sound and voice, while further establishing himself and the “soul trap” sound.

In the summer for 2012 we thought it would be cool to introduce Thelonious Martin to Tree. They met up at SoundScape, where Thelonious was regularly setting up shop and crafting music. The two kick it off immediately and “More Than You Know” was the result. Although we’ve released a lot of music with Tree and Thelonious respectively, for some reason or another, this just never came out.

“Trynawin” is the first release from Tree’s highly anticipated, Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out. The new record was created during a Closed Session in late February with underground favorite Roc Marciano. The documentary shows the immediate chemistry between the two emcee/producers as Tree welcomes Roc Marciano into his SoulTrap style of production.
