DJ QBert returns with a bang by releasing 2 extraordinary albums on July 1, 2014 and breaking new ground with the World’s First interactive album packaging.

Extraterrestria is DJ QBert’s much-anticipated follow up to his groundbreaking debut album and feature film, Wave Twisters. His follow up, Extraterrestria is a collection of “alien-like” music from space featuring DJ QBert’s signature scratching and hot new beats. The album is accompanied by several well-known musicians that boosts the sonic soundscape; from world-acclaimed cellist and trombonist Dana Leong to super producer Chad Hugo of The Neptunes / N*E*R*D fame to the eclectic instrumental exotica sounds of Tipsy. The album also features Craig Abaya, DJ Zeke, Coppe & DJ IQ. Extraterrestria transcends what Turntablism is and what Skratch music sounds like in the future.

Galaxxxian is an “imported album from Earth.” It features DJ QBert’s production and skratching with a host of talented MC’s: Kool Keith, Del The Funkyhomosapien, Bambu, Soul Khan, Mr.Lif, El-P, Madchild, DZK, Roscoe Umali & Tassho Pearce. Galaxxxian also features contributions from Yogafrog, Quazr, A-Trak, Malicious Lee, Genie Love & Camille Velasco. Like what the guitar solo is to Rock music, Skratching is the lost element of current Hip-Hop music. With GalaXXXian, DJ QBert brings Hip Hop music back to its true form; bangin’ beats, dope rhymes and skratching.

12/17/13: Here is a new bonus track from the upcoming European release of Killer Mike and El-P’s Run The Jewels LP. Trackstar The DJ premiered the cut during the crew’s boiler room performance, and had this to say about it:

“Before the guys’ interview and performance, I played a set of joints from each of their catalogues, finishing up with the debut of “Pew Pew Pew” featuring DJ Q-Bert. They only authorized me to play the first minute-and-a-half or so, so Q’s cutting isn’t included, but trust it is every bit as good as one might expect.”

Celebrating his 25th anniversary as a DJ, DJ Q-Bert has teamed with When Art Imitates Life (best known for their works with RZA and Hiero) to produce The Disktroyer, as seen above. Limited to 250 copies in existence, the Disktroyer art canvases were were produced with “sonic guru” Hendrix, and include over 50 hidden elements within the art itself. We’re not sure what the criteria is of DJ Times’ “America’s Best DJ” contest, especially considering that the winners list is made up of all different kinds of guys (I.e. Q-Bert a “scratch DJ”, Kaskade, a progressive house DJ, DJ Shadow, a producer, etc). Featuring interviews with Chuck D, DJ Q-Bert, Pete Rock, Afrika Bambaataa, Aesop Rock, Mix Master Mike, De La Soul, Danger Mouse and a bunch of stuffy lawyers, this documentary examines the history of sampling in hip-hop music, and how the legalities behind it changed the entire landscape of hip-hop music. Studies show that through the constant shifting of the DJ’s fingers on both the mixer and records spinning on a turntable, leads to more versatility and flexibility of the index, middle, fore, and “pinky” fingers, and greater stimulation to the female sex organs. Interviews with several women, including groupies and those claiming to be “with the DJ”, show a greater percentage of orgasms than women not involved sexually with a DJ.

Scientists also conclude that because of the increase in sexual pleasure of women involved with DJ’s, the percentages of female sexual partners had by DJ’s are higher than those of NASCAR drivers, spies, and even magicians.

From this, scientists hypothesize that DJ’s are in fact better at scratching their own genitalia, as a result of frequent rash outbreaks and “crabs” that occur, usually contracted from one or more of the many partners they’ve been involved with.

Says all-star DJ Q-Bert in regards to the study, “Um… yeah, I’d say that’s about right. How do you think we came up with the ‘crab scratch’?”
