Legendary hip-hop innovator and Grammy award winner Q-Tip is teaming up with current Wolf Of Wall Street co-stars, multi-Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio and Oscar-nominee Jonah Hill, through DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way, to develop and create a new scripted TV series that is loosely based on Q-Tip¹s experience during the Native Tongue era.

Hill is eyeing to direct the pilot.

The dramatic series will be loosely based on the community and the collective that was A Tribe Called Quest, whom Q-Tip was a founding member, and their experience and friendship during the Native Tongue era in the late 80s and early 1990s with other hip-hop artists. The show will reflect on the stories of how their music played a part in culture then and influenced the music of today.

Some new tracks, some classics, as Busta and Tip team for The Abstract & The Dragon mixtape. Could this be a prelude to an even bigger project? Guest support (archival and newly recorded) from Redman, DJ Scratch, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, Raekwon, Big Daddy Kane, Talib Kweli, Missy Elliott, and LONS.

While Kanye West has been quite vocal about his plans to dominate the fashion world, two new reports have popped up in regards to his next album. Kanye revealed Wednesday night at Miami’s Art Basel that he is working on the new album, and briefly discussed it.

“I think my next album is going to be eight songs,” West said. “It’s just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can’t take anything else away. [Yeezus] was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here. If I hadn’t made Yeezus, I wouldn’t be sitting here with this cool font at Basel right here.”

Meanwhile, Q-Tip offered some insight into the project as well, during his interview with Elliott Wilson. Tip revealed “I’m producing Kanye’s next album with Rick Rubin…”, Tip revealed. You can peep the interview in it’s entirety below.

Q-Tip is one of hip hop’s greatest MCs and producers. As a member of A Tribe Called Quest, he helped to shape the sound of hip hop throughout the ’90s. The group’s exceptional run of full-lengths became a blueprint for MCs looking to balance the literate and the absurd, as well as producers searching for the perfect (and unexpected) break—Tribe’s influence is pretty much unmatched in hip hop circles. Since Tribe’s split in 1998, Q-Tip has kept busy with a solo career that has included four albums as well as countless productions and guest appearances in places both expected (Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, and Jay-Z) and improbable (Chemical Brothers, R.E.M.). He has also honed his DJ chops, spinning regularly in New York City and beyond.

During this 2 hour Red Bull Music Academy lecture, the seasoned MC played a snippet of the unreleased Kanye song, “Mama’s Boyfriend” (around the 1:36 mark), which leaked last year, but was deemed a fake by Yeezy.
