Legendary hip-hop innovator and Grammy award winner Q-Tip is teaming up with current Wolf Of Wall Street co-stars, multi-Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio and Oscar-nominee Jonah Hill, through DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way, to develop and create a new scripted TV series that is loosely based on Q-Tip¹s experience during the Native Tongue era.

Hill is eyeing to direct the pilot.

The dramatic series will be loosely based on the community and the collective that was A Tribe Called Quest, whom Q-Tip was a founding member, and their experience and friendship during the Native Tongue era in the late 80s and early 1990s with other hip-hop artists. The show will reflect on the stories of how their music played a part in culture then and influenced the music of today.

Revolt TV produced this special short on A Tribe Called Quest, whom reflect on their legacy after their final performances in New York City. In the second clip, OKP caught up with Phife Diggy to ask him about that dude wearing the Hammer pants in the “Bonita Applebum” video, his J Dilla knowledge, and other funky diabetics.

The Dungeon Dragon comes out on this performance of “Scenario”, live in New York City on the Yeezus tour earlier this week. As the second-to-last-ATCQ performance ever, its a shame Busta’s mic was having issues. Crowd filled in the gaps, in true LONS style.

Yesterday, Kanye West announced that Pusha T and A Tribe Called Quest would be joining him for select dates on the Yeezus tour. But today, Q-Tip revealed via Twitter that these shows would be the group’s “final” performances.

“In August, ATCQ did our last show FOR Cali. It’s only right we do our FINAL 2 joints where we started…NYC,” Tip tweeted.

Obviously, we all know that the group has been a wrap for a minute now, but this announcement seals the deal completely, with no future dates together for the foreseeable future.

Rolling Stone reports that Q-Tip will “sprinkle his album” – The Last Zulu, due next Spring on G.O.O.D. Music / Def Jam – with individual appearances from his A Tribe Called Quest family, including Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi.

“I’ll probably get them on my album,” Q-Tip said at the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding’s Young Leadership Benefit in New York on Monday, where he’s recording for the album.

Tip added that touring is the group’s main focus, however. “We love performing. There’s a lot of places around the world that we’ve yet to hit, believe it or not,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’re probably gonna just concentrate on the rest of the world. We’ve kind of played America.”

At tonight’s BET Hip-Hop Awards, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, A Tribe Called Quest’s paid tribute to Chris Lighty, head of Violator Management, in this dedication to the late, legendary music industry figure. Each of these artists were managed by Violator at some point in their careers. Historically, Fat Joe and 50 Cent put their beefs aside, sharing the stage for the tribute. Forward by LL Cool J.

Here’s a highlight reel of Busta Rhymes amazing peformance from the Brooklyn Hip-Hop fest, which saw him reuniting with Leaders of The New School for the first time in 20 years. Also present are each A Tribe Called Quest, Lil Fame of M.O.P., Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun, Slick Rick, Reek Da Villain, J. Doe. We can’t say we’ve ever seen “Scenario” performed with this many original members live on the song.

Michael Rapport and Nas came together to work on the documentary but due to personal issues in Nas’ life he couldn’t continue with the documentary.

The renowned New York-based Native Tongues crew has something brewing for the new year! Evitan (“native” spelled backwards), the new hip-hop duo featuring Andres “Dres” Titus of Black Sheep and Jarobi White of A Tribe Called Quest, have officially debuted the first single, “P.T.I. (Occupy Wall St.)”.

The track touches not only the specific happenings of the Occupy movement but also on the broader feelings of anger, uncertainty, and a desire to mobilize felt by young and old people across the country. “The 99% need to have not just a voice, but voices,” says Dres regarding what inspired them to write the song. “We need to have more voices that speak to our plight beyond what is given to us via the media.”
