In his interview with NPR revealed today, Mannie Fresh debuted a new song from their upcoming collaborative LP, OMFGOD.

From NPR: “Mannie Fresh, the legendary New Orleans producer and DJ, was our guest for the first live episode of Microphone Check. We taped at NPR’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. at the end of May, and the conversation was predictably warm, sharp and funny. Mannie regaled the crowd with stories about Cash Money Records, the making of Juvenile’s 400 Degreez, Lil Wayne’s career, Mantronix and his dad. And he played us a new song from what he’s working on now: an album with Brooklyn rapper Mos Def. What we didn’t anticipate happened after we said our thank yous, when Mannie stood up, walked over to the decks and unleashed a spontaneous set of bounce remixes of everything from Hall & Oates to Earth Wind and Fire.

“For the next 20 mins he put New Orleans behind songs by Kenny Chesney, Hall & Oates and Trouble Funk — leading off with his remix of “September,” which somehow makes the warm embrace of Earth Wind and Fire’s song even more cushy, homey and right on time.”

After a long time falling out former members of Ca$h Money Millionaires, Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh have reunited, and will work together on Wayne’s upcoming LP, Tha Carter V. The two have not recorded together since 2004′s Tha Carter, but fellow producer, Charles Pettaway, also pictured, tweeted this photo of the three of them in the studio together in Atlanta, GA, with the caption “Me, Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh at the studio.”

Right before Red Bull’s 2013 Street Kings competition, VIBE talked to the legendary DJ Mannie Fresh in the epicenter of New Orleans’ Tremé section. As a native, the producer grew up with Brass Band music in his DNA and still incorporates the sounds into his music.

“[Brass Band] been a part of my background and my high school put out a lot of the greats like Kermit Ruffins, and the Rebirth Brass Band. All of us went to school together and came up under the same umbrella and started out with Jazz music,” Mannie tells VIBE. “It’s a part of our DNA, so it’s just we’ve got people like Trombone Shorty who worked on some of the earlier Cash Money songs when he was just a kid,” he says in part one.

In part two, Mannie opened about all his upcoming endeavors. “I’m doing bass trap, I’m doing EDM songs,” Mannie told VIBE. “So you’ll see a lot of mixes from Mannie Fresh in the near future.” Fresh says he’s also open to release a new solo album in the near future.
