In the first clip, Souls of Mischief stopped by Sway in the Morning to discuss their new album with Adrian Younge, There Is Only Now. First, the members shared what they thought was their biggest career mistake in the music industry. They also broke down their lyrics and explained how a witnessing a shooting inspired this new record. The producer of the album, Adrian Younge spoke about his experience working with Souls of Mischief.

In the third clip, New York rapper, Troy Ave stopped by Sway in the Morning with Young Lito to promote his new mixtape, BSB Volume 5. Troy first discussed his comments about “bringing New York back” and why he does not think he will abandon his East Coast roots if he signs with TI. He also spoke about Birdman reaching out to him as well. Additionally, the Brooklyn native spoke about his new mixtape with LA Leakers and what BSB Volume 5 contains. Young Lito also spoke about his new music ventures. Both rappers went on to share how they are dealing with fame.

Ransom stopped by Sway In The Morning and addressed many topics that fans may have been wondering about.

The New Jersey rapper explained his direction when working on his album, The Proposal. Boston native Statik Selektah reached out to Ransom via Twitter after hearing a track and brought him in to Shade 45. From there the two artist worked vigorously and completed multiple tracks in a total of four days.

Ransom also talked about losing his father around age 5, but instead of taking it as a tragedy, Ransom used the death as ammo to work harder, only making him more determined to reach his goal.

Ransom leaves the citizens with a treat by free-styling live on the show.

Yesterday, Talib Kweli performed Get By in our Sway in the Morning In-Studio Concert Series (watch here). Just as promised, today this rapper drops knowledge in a conversation about hip-hop and representing ourselves.

We’re all familiar with Rick Ross and Lil Wayne’s recent loss in their endorsements because of certain lyrics. Talib weighed in saying…

“I feel, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross should get money.” Telling the Shade 45 crew. “I was disappointed when they got dropped. I wish they would have came with stronger apologies sooner and kept they money. I wanted them to keep their money. I don’t wanna see no black man lose nothing.”

He goes on to elaborate why these two rappers are indeed hip-hop and explains why companies seek them to begin with.

“You can’t say these artists aint hip hop. On the outside looking in, these men have dedicated they lives to their music. Whether, you like their output or not, they represnet hip hop for millions of people, and that can’t be fronted on. That’s why companies go to them.”
