Ras Kass will return to the game after a long hiatus with his new “Quarterly” mixtape, dropping sometime within the next month. “Mike Jacks” is the latest in a series of MJ tributes we’ve seen over the last week, where Razzy pulls an Ice Cube, playing “Jackin’ For Beats” over various beats from the King of Pop. Rather than using the actual samples, Ras uses various MJ sampled tracks, such as Jay-Z’s “Izzo”, Kanye’s “Good Life”, Nas “It Ain’t Hard To Tell”, etc. This is cool, however Ras spends more time speaking on himself, with the references to Michael being subtly delivered. What this does do is put into perspective how many hip-hop hit singles are built around these samples. - DJ Pizzo
