We teamed up with D-Styles back in the day to create this promo for DJ Shadow’s The Private Press, and later used it for pre-orders of The Outsider. The mix includes exclusive remixes and interpretations by D-Styles, and basically was our answer to Q-Bert’s Shadow mix, The Camel Bobsled Race. Shadow’s new LP, The Less [cont.]
This CD/EP was a companion piece to De La Soul’s The Grind Date, officially sanctioned by the group for preorders of The Grind Date on HipHopSite.Com in 2005. This was basically our answer to Clear Lake Auditorium. Limited to 1000 copies. Another note, we did not press the vinyl. Someone bootlegged our shit. 1. The [cont.]
Here is another one from the HipHopSite.Com promotional CD series. This dates back to 2004, given away free here on HHS with J’s A Job Ain’t Nothin’ But Work album pre-orders – only 1000 copies were pressed. J writes: After years of legend and fable, the GO-RILLA PIMP$ album I$ here! This album was recorded [cont.]
Easily one of the greatest promo discs we ever released, this CD collects many of Mr. Dibbs legendary prank phone calls. Edan speaks on this promo item in an interview with Nerdtorious. I cannot remember if I did it specifically for promotional shit or if it [cont.]
This mix was done for Dilated Peoples 20/20 LP by The Inhumanz, an old DJ/remix collective made up of Dave Fogg, Warren Peace, DJ Pizzo, DJ Destroyer, and Chris Myrikel. This was well into Dilated’s career, so the aim for this mix was to look back at their career up through 2006 – there’s about [cont.]
The story behind this is that we were hosting MF Doom’s website at the time, and had a close relationship with Doom. Sometime in 2006, Doom had a series of projects dropping all at once, which included the King Geedorah album, some Special Herbs instrumental projects, and a live album, if memory serves correctly. Under [cont.]
The story behind this release was that it was originally a “fake leak” of the People Under The Stairs’ 2006 album Stepfather. Weeks before the release of Stepfather, P.U.T.S. deliberately leaked this parody record under the guise of “Stepfather Advance” on sites like Limewire to discourage illegal downloading. Yeah, that worked pretty well. The end [cont.]
