“When The Fat Lady Sings” reunites GZA/Genius and DJ Muggs, after their stellar performance on the first Soul Assassins album. This one gives Muggs orchestrated sound, which has been more prevalent on recent Cypress Hill releases. The structure of the song is pretty basic, but what subtracts from it is the lack of a hook - instead, we get some off key sampled singing, which doesn’t exactly pack the best results. Honorary Soul Assassin Fredwreck  brings his own remix, which oddly puts the Genius behind a funkier, west-coast flavored track. This isn’t a bad single, it just isn’t my choice for the first release from the album, considering both the Kool G Rap and Xzibit songs run circles around it. It will be enough to hold us over until we get the next single though.
