Phil Da Agony executes “Watch Out” pretty well considering it’s a one-gimmick record. Ever line begins with Phil warning you, “watch out for [fill in the blank].” Sample verses: “first you got to watch out for yourself and your fam/because if you don’t watch out/nobody else will give a damn/watch out for those niggas in the streets/they’ll follow you with the heat/and rock you to sleep.” And so the song continues as Phil pretty much mistrusts, well, everybody. The cops, bitches, A&R, magazines, etc. It can get a little redundant, especially by the third set of verses but at least Joey Chavez’s funked-out loop keeps your interest even when you want to watch out for Phil’s next line.
